Hi Morini friends!
I just got a new Avio, I'm very happy with it, but the suspension is not as I expected. It feels incredibly soft, all springy with little damping. I live in New Zealand and the dealers do not have so much experience. My dealer adjusted the suspension, but situation hasn't improved significant.
Any suggestions are welcomed.
Best regards
Heiner
Avio suspension problems
Hi Heiner
Congratulations - sounds like your bike has finally arrived. It's funny, I was just wondering how you were getting on yesterday when I went for a ride, and it has been about 2 months since I have last looked at this forum.
Unfortunately, I don't think I can offer you any help with the suspension, other than I think the bikes come setup for a 75kg rider. However, looks like there are some knowledgable guys on this forum so I'm sure help will be forthcoming.
Apart from the suspension, I hope the bike is everything you expected it to be, as I remember you were tossing up (like lots of others) between the Avio and the Veloce.

Hi Guys,
how are you finding the dealers in NZ? Word from UK on this forum very positive, so I'm wondering if the same commitment is here. If you'd rather not say anything openly, Email me at
flasha54@hotmail.com
Thanks,
Gary

Hi Gary
Probably a bit premature at this stage for me to make a fair comment either way. My only issue to date was how long I had to wait for my Corsaro to arrive (took 5 months from when it was ordered). Other than that, the bike is running beautifully. I have now done 2,600km. Dealer support really only comes into play if you encounter difficulties, and I am hoping that this will not happen. Only time will tell.
If you are considering a Corsaro, then I would absolutely recommend them. Quite simply awesome power, handling, style, build quality and X-Factor.

Thanks for the reply scoofy. As you know, not much in NZ in the way of demonstrators, so I haven't seen them all yet except on the internet.
Did you by any chance ride the Avio or have a close look at one? It seems on paper to be more the right size for me in terms of torque rather than raw power, but others in the UK suggesting its worth paying more for the Corsaro for other reasons, ie finish, suspension and an oil cooler among other things.
How is it on fuel burn?
Would like to hear your thoughts,
thanks Gary

Hi Gary
In NZ, there is a demo Corsaro 1200 that is rotated around the 5 Moto Morini dealers. If you are keen to test ride one, you should just approach the nearest dealer, and I am sure they will arrange for the demo to be available as soon as possible. I'm not sure they have a demo Avio at this stage.
In NZ, the current price difference between the Avio and the 1200 is $4,500. Apart from colour alternatives, what this buys you is 6NM more torque, 20Bhp more power, Oil Cooler, fully adjustable rear shock, more adjustable front end (I think), radial master cylinders (brake and clutch). In our NZ climate, there is no advantage to be gained from an oil cooler, it is only in much more hotter climates that this is of benefit. Therefore, in the end, your decision comes down to colour preferences, power, torque and suspension.
My journey to owning a Corsaro started out as knowing I wanted one (based on aesthetics, uniqueness, power specs and positive reviews). I had never ridden a Corsaro before ordering one. In fact, I originally ordered an Avio (purely to fit within budget constraints). However, a week after ordering it, I changed my mind and ordered a Corsaro. My reason for this was that for $3,000 (the then price differential), I did not want to be left wondering what the additional power/torque would feel like. I am very glad with my decision, as I know it would have bugged me forwever not knowing.
I have seen other members on this site comment about the finish of the Avio. I'm not sure why, because other than the matt paint finish (which some people like and others don't) the Avio comes in, and some equipment differences, the Avio is the same build quality as the Corsaro and the Veloce.
My only advice is don't compromise on what you really want, especially if you are like me and would be forever wondering how much of a difference (or not) that extra torque and power would make.
PS I went for a 2008 Corsaro 1200 Black/White (only one in NZ, which I waited 5 months for). Apart from power/torque, I thought the Black/White colour scheme was a more timeless option. Also, it has Black forks (instead of the gold) which again I think is more timeless. These bikes are just an adrelin rush to ride. I hope you get the opportunity do ride one soon.
Cheers
