upgrades on a used corsaro?

Post by twisty »

Thinking of buying a secondhand corsaro 1200 from a dealer about a two year old bike.
What upgrades should i be looking for on the bike apart from a revised ecu.
Any help appreciated.

HI - is it the Lambo Yellow and Black bike in MotoStrada of Shipley?

If it is then I wouldnt wory too much about having all the upgrades as MotoStrada are a Morini dealer and would/should have fitted these as a matter of course during the vehicles life.

If you are looking at a bike offered by a non Moto Morini dealer then its difficult unless you are realy into the bike (in my opinion) to spot what upgrades have been fitted or not ... However, these bikes are on a 3yr warranty so you should be able to take the bike straight into a Morini dealer and get it checked over and any upgrades its missing fitted under waranty.

It was the yellow one i was looking at on the net. I'm too far away to view it at the moment. Did you by any chance have a look at it. If you did what did you think.

3X have sold their Yellow and Black one at the end of last week to a MMRC member (who has already had one Corsaro, I understand...)

A couple of easy pointers as to upgrades;

Early Corsaros had a floppy exhasut system which was cured with an extra fixing clip on the offside rear pillion mounting. Later models had a proper fixing point here.

Later models have a bigger battery, which results in even less space under the riders seat for the tool roll, etc. You need to know what you're looking for to spot this one!

Buying from a MM dealer should ensure that all these upgrades are done -alternatively find out who the original supplying dealer was and talk to them! (All the bikes are covered for 3 years and so the original dealer should be happy to put the required bits together...)

Good luck,

Twisty - no I'm not associated with MotoStrada in Shipley. They are my local Italian bike specialists and i have bought Moto Guzzie and now a Moto Morini fom them.

They have a Lambo Yellow and Black on a 56 plate Corsaro 1 user and I think it showing on their web site http://dealerservices.autotrader.co.uk/ ... 6&pageid=1 at just under 6k.

The bike is in good nick although I havent test riden it ...

Twisty,

I've been looking for a Morini for a while although in my case the 9 1/2. Moto Strada had several secondhand Morini's including both a red 9 1/2 and this Corsaro. Unfortunately I missed the 9 1/2 don't do the same. The bike has just been reduced by £500.00 and needs a good home. Go and have a test ride and see if you can bargin some more. The good news is that i collect a red 9 1/2 next Saturday which I found in the West Midlands. Stuart at North Leicester Motors has already been very helpful with useful advice so I will take the bike to him for a check over, which Chris has already pointed out can be done under warranty.
Best of luck.

appreciate all the replies, trouble is i think i'm getting hooked. The more i look at the bike the more i want one, especially for the roads up the west coast of scotland. Love the idea of more low down torque, puts a great big grin on yer face when overtaking or just opening her up on a graet stretch of road.
It must be the male menopause.

Twisty;

Don't know where you're based but the Corsaro was awsome on the west coast of Scotland. I took mine up there with my eldest son on his CBR, brother in law and friends :D

Run through Glen Coe and on past Kyle of Lochalsh up to Ullapool on roads built for Morinis [and other bikes...]

Bliss - I'll have to put something in the adventures bit... :lol:

Hi Twisty
If you can look at the Speedaway website in the Midlands :)
They have my X Morini Corsaro up for sale and it has had all the mods done except the last ECU update!! which is not a problem to have done, and I can recommend this bike :D its not long had its first service. You will see it has low mileage and is in nearly as new condition, I think only a couple of minor stone chips. It comes with about one year left on the Warranty and has R&G crash bobbins.

Regards
Steve.

thanks I'll have a look.

What's the bike like at speed. Do you lean forward on the bars or do you end up with neck muscles like a gorilla due to trying to hold on, or is it a more natural riding position once you get moving?

Twisty;

Depends on so many factors...

I'm 5' 10" and too heavy, but I find the Corsaro riding position very natural now I'm used to it. Your legs fit beneath the tank, the bars are a good spread, and your legs are bent just over the 90 degree ideal, so its a very good bike for sitting "in" and just riding.

Up to about 85/90 mph the wind blast isn't too bad - get over that and you are hanging on a bit. Now the only time I've ridden this fast is on the Isle of Man (no speed limits there...) and when going over the Mountain the last thing that you're thinking about is wind blast. However, I didn't notice it for the ten minutes or so of flat out-ish riding I did (top speed was a tad over 130mph...)

Cruising down a motorway at this speed is possible, but the only reason you'd do that would be to reach the exit junction, and I'd rather be on a more twisty road (I guess that you would, too). Over 100 mph here and its instant ban and lots of money... The answer is - of course - to get your self a test ride :)

Let us know how you get on,
