In issue 133 of the club's ATG magazine (from 1987) there was a wanted advert:
For trip East 500 Camel, preferably Mark 1. Please contact ...
This inspired me to think about which Moto Morini I'd like to ride and where I'd like to ride it to. My next big trip is from 11 to 16 September 2024 riding my Kanguro X from home in S. E. England to Heysham, then by ferry to the Isle of Man, where I'll be one of a group of the Green Lane Section riding on a mix of roads and legal trails before returning home. Total riding distance, perhaps 1000 kms, all being well.
What about you? where'd you like to ride a Moto Morini to (and when)?
I guess I´ve done about 250.000km Morinikm in my life, most of them long distance turns, all with Tremezzo Sport 350 or 501.
For me travelling is absolutely the best way of motocycleriding!
With my first 350 in the early ´80ies I went to Italy/Sicilia, France/Bretagne and UK/Ireland.
After my Morinirebirth in 2000 several times to Italy and Spain (when it still was possible 3 times I took the car-train from Hamburg to Narbonne and made several Vueltas a España) and a lot of traveling to the german meetings (from Lübeck to Bavaria it´s about 900 km one way).
The next longer trip will be riding my pensioner bike project 500/501 Frankenstein (my first Morini without clip ons and first bike ever with E-Starter), when finished to spain, where it should remain. If all works out fine that will be in 2025 or 2026.
Well Julian, nothing came from that wanted ad in ATG 133
Yet we did manage to get Mk2 and Mk1 Camels by 1988 and in the summer we went from NE Scoland to France, Spain and Portugal then taking in Wales on the way home.
Must do it again, Ian

Ahhhh, so it was you who placed the wanted ad... I'm visiting S. Wales this Friday and over the weekend for the BMW GS Challenge event. I've a choice between my Kanguro (partly to see how it behaves and to demonstrate that GS's are not the only bike capable of off-road challenges) or my Honda NX500 which would be a breeze to ride to and from the event and on the road sections but less of a character...
Hi Julian, at thw weekend I'll be up in Mid Wales near Builth Wells at a girder fork event, perhaps we could meet up at the end of the events?
Like me you should go on a Morini if just to stir things up?
A well set up Kanguro was my favourite model. Will roll all day on ”ordinary” roads at a good lick in comfort, and good on rough trails too. I used mine in preference to others for commuting, Dragon Rallies and a lot of back routes and agricultural tracks around here. I would have liked to do the Stella Alpina or Millevache meetings, but they are now beyond me.
I did miles on my Kangaro back in the day, I'm 5'3 and my late OH was 6'2 or so and he rode my Strada everywhere. We toured Ireland on them one time and used to get odd looks with the girlie hoping on the tall bike and the tall bloke stepping over the Strada. Still have the Strada, sold the Kangaro to a chap to do long distance trials on, he still had it last time I asked and was still enjoying it.

I also bought a Kanguro from you viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5318&p=29117&hilit=kanguro#p29117 and it's the one I use. It's done the Lands End Challenge earlier this year, the TET in northern Spain, and about to get to visit the Isle of Man with some of the Green Lane Section. Perhaps it's time for you to get another Kanguro - they are very well proportioned and comfortable bikes.

I agree. FWIW I'm planning a modified 250 2C as a diminutive lighter-weight Kanguro. I've got many of the parts including a 21" front wheel and a spoked rear wheel. If I found a KJ125 locally I'd be keen to try creating a hybrid with that as the basis for the bike.

I'm sure we'll both have fun, Ian
Ian, that might work and a great suggestion. Let's sync up by email/phone.

Good to hear that one is still going as well Julian, just never had the time to sort it. I do green laning on an XT225 Serow nowadays. Done some good days and lanes on the IOM. Fantastic views from some of them too, have fun.

Excellent. Do you happen to have a spare front end for a Serow? if so, it might be very useful for a project bike...
We are planning to go to Morano in 2025, haven't been since 96.
My venerable 350 sport has travelled far and would be great to go again but alas the comfort is not there even with inverted bars, for 2000 mile trip. To take the 1200 for comfort but the fuel consumption is not good and the range is poor. May be i could take a 250, or buy another Morini like the Calibro but i think a product of Lambertini is a must..

A Kanguro X/X1/X2? - fuel efficient, comfortable. And even an X3 if you don't mind the slightly top heavy nature of it with the large tank and battery sitting up high. Custom models are also available
