Hi I’m Graham from Warwickshire and have just joined the club and forum, l don’t have a Morini at the moment but I’m seriously considering buying a 500 Sport in the near future if a suitable one becomes available. l have experienced owning and maintaining old classic bikes as l recently sold a Norton 850 Commando that l owned for six years, my present bike is a 2018 Royal Enfield Classic 500 which I recently discovered has a cracked frame but that’s another story so l have no ride until it’s repaired, hopefully later on this year. Meanwhile I can enjoy enjoy the club and forum finding out more about these wonderful bikes!

Hi Graham.

Welcome to the Club and the Forum.

Hopefully you will be receiving the Club magazine 'A Tutto Gas'. That will contain details of the gatherings of the Warwickshire Section.

Regarding a Morini 500 Sport, there is currently one for sale on ebay.

Here is the link... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/226925056019 ... 49.m162918

It has been around for a while but strangely hasn't yet sold. Maybe the colour is putting people off? What I can tell you is that the seller is a skilled engineer who makes parts and tools for Morinis. (See other items). Just the sort of person to buy a bike from, and the price is extremely good.

Still, whatever you do with regards to purchasing a bike, you are sure to get plenty of support here on the Forum and throughout the Club in general.

Best regards.
Jenny.

Ok thanks Jenny, yes one to consider, there are a couple of others on the Car & Classic that I’ve seen as well.

Any reason you want 500 rather than a 350? You're restricting yourself quite a lot.

More power more torque, l would imagine they would be a more relaxed ride.

Hello gentlefolk / members of the Morini world.

Just joined the club recently, and registered for the forum today. Long time rider, as far back as the halcyon days of my first (official/legalish) RD250 and suchlike. Also a long term admirer of the 3 1/2, although not a pup's chance of me ever having been able to afford one back then.

Being a bit longer in the tooth, and owner of a large variety of bikes since those days, I recently got the opportunity to acquire a bona fide little tre e mezzo - a '78 Strada. It was originally sold and used in Italy, then latterly imported to the UK (through NLM I think) - and has been subject to some level of restoration at some point. The bike overall looks to be in pretty good shape, but as it sat idle for a few years I've slowly but steadily been working through the recommissioning process.

(If I can figure out how to post a few pics later, I will)

Anyhoo - shall very probably need help to get the Strada back in the shape she deserves - especially with some of the finer details that t'internet and ChatGPT have no clue about. I know my way round bikes and engines in general and have rebuilt a few at this stage, but the inner workings of some of the bits on the 3 1/2 have left me scratching my head at times

Hoping I can get a wee bit of help here from time to time, and would just ask in advance of what will undoubtedly come across as rather stupid questions at times .. be gentle :)

Welcome AK99. Great purchase. I know you’ll enjoy the ride. All problems are solvable and I’m sure any issues can be assisted by asking on the forum.
Cheers,
Steve.

Welcome AK99. Have you downloaded the manual from the Members' Area yet? Known as the Blue Book.

Good to see another Morini being rescued. Good to see another one in Ireland.

I'd love to take mine to Ireland, the roads are made for Morinis, except the Dublin ring road... which obviously isn't otherwise your wheels would get wet!

No silly questions, but the search can be useful.

For photos I use jpeg optimiser on my tablet and reduce the to 300kB. Can then be added as attachments.

Thanks Steve and MM. Yes to answer your questions, there are some pretty decent roads around here for sure. I live about 2 miles from the Skerries road-race route, so some decent stretches close by, but like anywhere there's also a few really good roads slightly further afield that everybody knows but tends to keep quiet about to help ensure they stay off the radar :)

I have the blue-book, and also trawled the internet for anything and everything related to CEV 6-pole ignition switches, but so far have come up blank. I guess the workings and innards of nigh on 50 year old Italian switchgear isn't perhaps one of the hottest topics out there.

Thanks for the tip on the jpeg sizing app btw - appreciated.

I meant to ask btw - are there any current members based in Ireland North or South ?

I know there were a few very active posters and at least one fantastic looking 3 1/2 restoration undertaken by somebody from on here in days gone by, but wondered if there's any other Morini owners who might be local(ish) to me here in Dublin or even on the island still ?
