NLM up for sale?
NLM up for sale?
A member of the German Morini Riders Club has alerted me to this advertisement for a motorcycle dealership in Leicestershire.

This might well be old news or not so old....?
Anybody know anything?

Just found this myself. I hope and pray it is not true. NLM is our lifeline.

Re: NLM up for sale?
Odd this! I can of course easily believe it's up for sale, but if I was selling it, I'd make a bit more effort with the photos, which are awful and I'd include some encouraging description - so I'm puzzled. I do hope it's not true, though as always, an injection of new blood and new thinking can be a good thing.....? Worrying though.

Re: NLM up for sale?
Could be lots of reasons. It does sound like a good opportunity for someone interested!
They are offering either a lease, or sale of the building. Maybe they would offer a deferred purchase option with the lease?
Could have a CNC machine in that extension making parts...

Re: NLM up for sale?
I really, really hope that the business will be purchased and maintained... My great bike was supplied by NLM many moons ago and I have felt so lucky and relieved to know that such a specialised and dedicated team of people have been there to support my interest and such a historic marque... Maintaining and enjoying our bikes would clearly be so much more difficult without the support of NLM!

Re: NLM up for sale?
Just to let you know, I spoke to Stuart , the owner, and it's been for sale for 7 years !!! He would like to retire.
Re: NLM up for sale?
Everybody (if they're lucky) reaches an age when they want to retire, if that's what Stuart has decided, who are we to argue.
We can only hope that someone will be prepared to take on such a business. Personally, I wish him and his family the very best for the future.

Re: NLM up for sale?
what is the worst case scenario - is NLM the only place on earth for Morini spares?
I'd like to know, as reading things like this is putting me off going to the garage to work on mine....
Any (reliable) parts suppliers in Italy?

Re: NLM - An Update
From our reporter, live at Ellistown:
I've spoken to Chris at NLM and the important news is that there's no need to panic. Stuart's written a piece explaining the situation which should be in the imminent issue of ATG, but Chris summarised it: Stuart is planning a well-earned retirement and is looking at options for the business. One option is to sell, another is for Stuart to step down and for existing management to continue. The servicing and spares could be run as two separate businesses, but the intention is to keep both going. Relocation of the existing business is also a possibility.
The continuing availability of spares should not therefore be an issue and we hope that the workshop remains with the existing expert staff.

Re: NLM up for sale?
All thoroughly understandable & pragmatic stuff. Whatever the outcome from these various scenarios are, good old free market capitalism (not a political point folks!) will doubtless keep the spares side alive.

...might be an idea to stock-up a bit, help their books look good and give us a good feeling...
