W800
Re: W800
They are great bikes and that long stroke engine pulls like a train from nothing,
I rode the both the 650 and 800 and liked them both, the 800 was the one MCN
tested, the hero bolts on the pegs were ground down near to the pegs, if it gets
a slight knock on from the cam drive shaft they are adjustable without taking anything
off but you need a touch like a midwife just a matter of having a little patience.

Re: W800
I bought a blue one as I do not like the all black pipes etc and had heard that the coating fails rapidly.
I tried to find an early green one but could not find a new one in stock, only per regd or ex demo bikes..As I managed to buy it at circa 120 above cost I did not want to buy any other option.
This is my first new bike since 1977 and the first time since then I have had to waste money getting it serviced for the sake of the warranty. It appears the block exemption relating to servicing anywhere does not apply to bikes and big K were being pedantic on the issue. I planned to take it to a local Ducati specialist who is much cheaper than the dealer but doing so invalidated the warranty terms!
For my trouble the dealer overfilled the oil..I took 4ltr of Q8 and received .5 back..The engine takes 2.9. And Kawasaki only trust their highly skilled technicians!
I considered a bonnie but did not like the look, nor the fact that it is best to remove cams to check clearances..It is also not as well made in my estimation..and I have a 955 sprint so am not biased...The Kawa ticked all my boxes. Comfy, frugal, looks authentic, nice wheels ..It is slower than the bonnie and does not feel at all powerful but the speedo figures belie this.
Very pleased so far.
