OK, OK - I'll post it back to you soon - although you probably won't need it for navigating around the Chunnel terminal?

Don't worry about the maps, I'll be down before we go and pick them up.

OK Mike - it'd be good to see you!
Let us know when you're likely to be down and we'll catch up with a beer or two. It's MRC night on Wednesday so we'll be out for a little while then, but otherwise likely to be around.
Chhers,

If this works, It will be a link to a Google Map of my first cut at a rouite from Laon to Dijon. If you have the Google Earth view plugin you can 'fly' the route' (works particularly well in the Chrome browser if you 'get directions' between two of the waypoints and turn '3D' on). Chatillin sur Seine to Dijon via D971 & D996 looks as much fun as I remember it.

I can read it.
Fismes? Is that where the Reims race track is?

The circuit is a bit further east nearer Reims. The buildings are still there apparently. A detour could be arrangedMickeyMoto wrote:I can read it.

Hi,
Yes please!
Been there twice, it is a wonderful place.
Last time an elderly couple turned up and started talking about the racing when they were children. The lady said she remembers seeing Fangio racing there!
The road by the stand is well surfaced, not that I would encourage racing on public roads, you understand.....

It sounds like an ideal break - and a great photo opportunity. Editor Marlow would probably also want to be there; I seem to recall that he has a book featuring GP curcuits with the building as an "inconic image"... Or somesuch artistic wording!
Not so long to go now - it'll probably snow on the way down,

Re: Dijon 2012 - Coupes Moto Legende...
A couple of us have been trying to sort out any special regulations that apply to riding in France. This is what we've found so far.
- headlights must be used at all times
- spare bulbs must be carried (compulsory according to Guzzi Owners Club, recommended by The AA)
- headlamps must be adapted for driving on the right
- reflective vest are not needed (until 1-1-2013)
- approved breathalysers are not needed (until 1-11-2012)
- Speed limits reduce when roads are wet
- Apparently, there is something called the European Good Samaritan law which requires anyone encountering an accident to stop & give assistance (how good is your french?)
- licence, V5 & insurance certificate must be carried
- Radar detectors are illegal (even if not used)
- Guzzi Club say that helmets must have 4 reflective stickers but I can't find any independent authority on this
Can anyone add to or correct this list?

Re: Dijon 2012 - Coupes Moto Legende...
Jem...........Your list looks pretty good.
My understanding about the spare bulbs is that they used to be compulsory but no longer are. But you will get nicked if you have a light out. So it looks like you carry them anyway.
The breathalisers are required from 1st July. But the fines for not having one only start on 1st November this year.
I've ridden in France for most of the last 15 years, and I've never heard anything about reflective stickers on your hat.
In other French news, I see that the French Morini Club are to have a stand in the clubs area at the Coupes Moto Legende for the first time this year.

Re: Dijon 2012 - Coupes Moto Legende...
... the speed limit on single carriageway is only 56mph (90 kph),
130kph on Autoroutes (110 in rain), and 110 on dual carriageways (unless indicated otherwise. 50kph in town (at the town sign with the diamond).
Diamond means priority from the right, I think - cars pull out in your path - is this still valid?
Sorry ossifer, I mistook the kph for mph....
I only take a photocopy of V5.
