Greetings!
The threads in the carburetor body (into which the main jet holder screws) has been stripped in one of my VHBZ 25 carburetors. There are insufficient threads to hold the float bowl securely.
Shall I presume there is no fix other than getting another carburetor?
TIA
Daniel

Re: Improving the appearance of brake discs
The discs are, I am fairly certain, chrome plated. You can get the plating removed but will need to replace the pads to be compatible with the exposed material underneath. Despite what some claim, it is possible and it works well. The disc material is not, however, iron nor is is stainless steel, so...

Re: Wheel Bearings front and rear
Remove the speedo gear from the wheel first. It will make the task much easier and prevent possible damage.

Re: Chain size
I converted the sprockets on my 3.5 Sport to a 520 many years ago and have had zero issues. With its moderate output, the 350 could probably get by with even smaller links, too, but I know of no one with appropriate hardware.

Looking nice!
So you are keeping the original wiring then? It would seem such a temptation to redo it all...

LHD Headlamp Reflector
Hello all-
Since I now live in the UK, I really ought to have a proper LHD headlamp instead of masking off the dip on my RHD one.
Does anyone have or know where to find a 7" (180mm) reflector for left-side driving? I have an H4 bulb, all I need is the reflector.
Thanks!
Daniel

I have to second Chas. He is not the least expensive, but the service is very good.

Re: Crank oil seal failure and roller bearing modification
Ouf! Sorry to read that it is worse than hoped.
I think Frank might be right about the spun bearing.
I hope you are looking forward to a project for the winter!

Re: New 1983 Sport
Tarozzis are usually the easiest to find. They are not necessarily the best, but unless you make your own rearsets, there are few alternatives. Most rearsets mount on the Morini in the same fashion as Tarozzis, so it is not much of an issue. Small adjustments to any rearsets will be required to make...

Anyone Willing to Loan Me a Helmet for a Few Days?
I just arrived in the UK and my 1978 3.5 Sport should be returned from NLM this morning. Unfortunately, all of my gear is still in transit, so I will have a bike but no means to ride it. :( If anyone in or near Egham (Surrey) is willing to loan me a size M helmet for a few days, I would be most appr...

Re: Vibrations!
This is a worthwhile task. It is a good idea to (slightly) loosen and re-tighten bolts holding the engine, perhaps also the exhaust system every few years. Things change a little over. Letting the components find their best clearances sometimes helps.mgelder wrote:Loosened and re-tightened the engine bolts.

Transport from Germany
I will be moving to the UK this summer (southwest London-ish area) and will naturally bring my 1978 Morini 3.5 Sport. Alas, it is too much to ride my bike up from Stuttgart and still get everything else done within one month, July. Does anyone know of good shippers (if possible not one of the big co...

Re: Gearbox neutral adjustment
Mantaray is correct: Almost every bike (especially older Italian ones) is not much good about getting into neutral when standing still. I always try to shift into neutral while rolling to a stop. If you are using the left-side changeover linkage(s), it will always be difficult. Tightening up any sl...

Re: Some rough running problems
I do not recall hearing a whirring noise ever from the cam belt. Are you sure yours requires the "A" size? I thought the 3.5 sump holds only 2 litres. Maybe the later models had larger sumps? The rear cylinder misfire could be several things. Usually a high-rev miss can be attributed to de...
