Hmmm, doesn't look bad does it? Maybe I should have taken it after all when I picked the bike up :o And I'm glad I fetched it last week, the radio tells me you're pretty well cut off right now? Got the bike running last weekend too-just fuel as suspected, and am waiting for a chance to MoT it now. T...

The alternator ignition coil resistance is a bit of a red herring. I've measured a NOS coil at 220 ohm and what really matters is how much it has dropped since it was wound. This is an indication of the state of the insulation. Yes, interesting you say that, mine only has 213 ohm, and produces a he...

I agree the standard is fundamentally good, but it has plenty of weak spots, connections, fragile pick-ups etc. I suppose it's because it is a very basic early version of the type? I wouldn't mind trying the new pick-up you have-if only for the lower idle and hopefully more robust construction. Have...

No, that's a new one on me, it looks pretty good till you read it needs 12v from the battery. The question then is how much current does it draw? I suppose the coil choice affects this some, but on older 350s at least, there isn't much spare electric juice after you switch your lights on and certain...

Why? Was it a Brit that hit you? Anyway, I think we are switching gradually. It certainly seems more common to drive wherever you feel like and only get out of the other folks way if they are bigger than you.Onecos wrote:Thanks Bro... Hi again Duncan, that bit sounds like a grease/dust shield. If you really can't refit it then as you say nocking the bearing out and getting a sealed or shielded replacement is the best bet. If the grease finds its way out here it gets over the cush rubbers and might eventually perish them. I'm a bi...

sealed bearings
Almost certainly, if you use a bearing shop rather than a bike shop they will be able to tell you all the options available in that bearing size.
Don't fret over it though, as long as the standard seal arrangement is in order it should last for years again as long as you avoid the jet wash!

Hi, my name is Steve Brown, I was a member from 1977 to about 1990 ish. I had a 3 1/2 sport, VVS 27S that I did about 100k miles on before it went to it's next home with one Andy Mc Cutcheon. Does Andy still have the bike? does it exist still? I know it was still around about 5 years back but would ...
