When I took my old sprocket off it was held on by a spring washer and a nylok nut, judging by the state of the bike I think that these are probably original.

squared off a socket to use as a drift and tried the boiling water trick, one good hit and it came out fine.

will make up a drift when I get a chance as there is much less chance of damaging the part in future.

Thanks for the advice :D

I recently cleaned out my tank and relined it using the Frost kit, I was a little sceptical about how well it would work as it had sat for ten years and looked just like the toilet in trainspotting :( .

It worked excellently and has since been repainted as well.

well recomended

Thanks for the assistance, yes it is part 23, I will get a proper drift made up and give it another go, I did not realise that it would be pushing the bearing out on the other side. I have bought some new bearings for the reassembly and she should be as good as new soon.

Thanks again

rear wheel strip

Hi I am stripping my rear wheel, cast alloy, drum brake, off an early 3.5 K. Well to be honest, I am attempting to strip it prior to blasting and powder coating. There seems to be a tube running between the two bearings on either side of the wheel, I have tentatively tried to remove this by drifting...

Hells bells  I was thinking of using them for some paint for my triumph, dont think I will bother now, my local motor factors can scan a good bit of surviving paint and give me there closest match at around £12 for 500ml, I have just finished my side panels in BMW red and used two 375ml tins...

A recent article in classic bike was about painting tanks at home using aerosols, the tank they used was a morini sport (late 70's) with the black blocking. they used BMW red as a good match that is easily available from Halfords etc. They also quoted RS bikepaint as being able to match up to 17000 ...

Sorted They heat shrink the speedo drive on to the wheel at birth, it is therefore more hassle than it is worth to remove, the bearings required more brute force than I had been applying (sorted, I am from yorkshire so I was born with the the correct level of ignorance). Apparently when the speedo d...

front wheel strip

Hi hope someone can help, I am stripping the cast front wheel of a 3.5 strada for powder coating. I am not sure how to get the speedo drive off the wheel, I have tentatively whacked it a few times with a rubber mallet to no avail, as for the bearings I do not seem able to get a purchase on them with...
