Re: New obsession
Hi Pissedandbroke welcome to the forum. Sounds like you've got the Morini bug and once you've got it you can't get rid of it! Believe me. I first bought a Morini Strada 3 1/2 T reg (1979) in 1983. I had it for about 5 years then reluctantly sold it to my brother. He had it for about 10 years then it...

Re: Idle rich
Thanks for your advice one and all. Mad Muller when I read your line about the slide cut outs being in the correct way round it rang a bell  It's too late now to go and check but I think this is what I've done  Pretty sure it's not the choke or jet seals as I renewed all these in the re...

Idle rich
I'm trying to tune/sync the carbs on my '78 Strada. I can't seem to get it to idle at anything below 1800rpm. Is this right? It seems a bit fast to me. Searching around the net and the original Harglo and NLM manuals for the correct idle speed has drawn a blank! I remembered I had a old Gunsons colo...

Re: Cylinders different temperatures!
Thanks for those pointers George. I've calmed down a bit - I think I got into a bit of a flap about it yesterday  I was running it purely on the stand and blipping the throttle. I've carried out a compression test today: Front cyl average was about 155psi rear was about 170. Perhaps the rings/...

Cylinders different temperatures!
Fired up my '77 Strada today for the first time in about three years today after having basically restored and refurbed all the cycle parts. This included a complete rewire, fitting NLM replacement transducer kit and replacing all jets and seals in the carbs. It appeared to be running fine. However,...

Pick up wiring
I'm getting ever closer to completing the resto of my 77' Strada and have junked the mismatched pair of transducers for the replacement kit from NLM. It all fits nicely but one thing has me stumped. The fitting instructions suggest that leads from the pick up should be red and black and that the red...

Re: Looking for pipes of peace not pieces of pipe!
Thanks for your input chaps. I've hopefully managed to upload some images albeit of poor quality just to give an idea of how much these pipes are askew. pipes.jpg It has to be too much upswing - EV Guru good point about the possibility of these being for a 500. Presumably these had more of an angle ...

Looking for pipes of peace not pieces of pipe!
Hello Morinistas I've been restoring my "77 Strada and have at last come to fitting the exhaust - an exciting step forward, or so I thought! I bought a new set of stainless steel downpipes from NLM about a year ago but have run into a problem. When fitted up they end up at outrageously differen...

Re: Satin or gloss
Had my Strada frame done in semi-gloss black. Looks just right IMHO. I think full gloss can look a bit plasticky sometimes.

Re: A bit phased!
Paul thanks for explaining it . I think I get it now! Would I be right in thinking the red wire from the alternator (effectively connected to the Battery) is the battery charging wire?

A bit phased!
I'm trying to get to grips with understanding the charging system on my 78' Strada 3.5 (6 pole ign switch). I know it has a flywheel alternator with six windings one of which powers the ignition ( green wire). What I want to know is how are the other 5 windings connected to produce the two field wir...

Re: Ignition system??
Thanks Paul that's brilliant now I get it  - it's been driving me mad. It also solves a mystery with the ignition switch positions that's had me baffled. I assumed the middle of the three positions ( 6 pole switch) was OFF because none of the terminals connected to each other at all! In fact t...

Ignition system??
I've been trying to fully understand the ignition system on my 3.5 "78 Strada with the 6 pole ign switch. This is what I think I know!! A single winding on the stator powers the ignition. The system is entirely independent of the battery. Condensers in the transducers are charged up until trigg...

Strada caliper wanted
I'm after a front brake caliper for my 78' Strada 3.5 ( cast wheels single disc) It's a Grimeca with circular outward facing side and the bleed nipple in the centre. And while I'm at it I'm also after a Grimeca master cyclinder and lever for the same.

Re: Wiring a new left-hand switch.
Hello tonup69 well done for sorting out your switch wiring. I am going to have the exact same problem for my 3.5 78' Strada as it came with a horrible old switch that looks all wrong.
