Re: timing belts alternate source usa
I used a Gates powergrip part #124L075. Most auto parts stores sell Gates, and even though its considered an industrial belt they can source it for you. I ordered mine through Carquest auto parts in San Diego for under $30. It originally fit a little tight with belt deflection at 4 mm. I think 6 mm ...

Re: Clutch shim placement
Thanks John!
Jon ordered a replacement copper washer and new spring bolts from Herdan yesterday. Hopefully those will help solve the problem and if not we'll shim until fit. Will update once it's all on. Probably a week to receive parts.
Cheers!

Re: Clutch shim placement
Thanks! See, that's my question too: Does that mean that all bikes should have some sort of washer, brass or nylon? This does not have either. Off the clutch link on the website I read it as that there might be some models that have neither. Is there some sort of breakdown as to which models have wh...

Clutch shim placement
Hi all, Been about a year since the origninal posting about dad's bike and Jon and I have got a lot done! Almost everything has been either replaced or cleaned and we finally found all the right parts to get her running again. We still have some general electric stuff to clean up, get the clocks wor...

Good news stateside folk. Heard from Stuart this morning via email. Very friendly and helpful. So happy to finally reach them. I'll post more updates as things come together once the new parts are imported.
Cheers!

Re: Clutch basket and seals parts?
Thanks you guys. I sent off an email to NLM. Hopefully they respond to those too. If possible I'd like to avoid an international call. Me being cheap, but I gotta try first right? Also seems like Herdan has some of the pieces, but not everything we need. And Jon was able to to salvage as much as pos...

Clutch basket and seals parts?
Hi everyone, if you've read the other posts I'm currently working with my mechanic friend to reubuild my dad's old '75 Morini S...well...he's doing the work. ;) Right now we're really having a hard time locating a replacement clutch basket and seals. Looking all over the place. Ebay, UK Ebay other p...

Re: Thormagnus - what did you decide? UPDATE!
Hey DD! First I should apologize to everyone. You've all been very helpful in sorting out what exactly is on my hands here. I guess I was so torn with what to do, (needed cash but didn't want to sell) that I just sort of put the bike out of mind. Good news is it worked! I'm keeping the bike and can'...

Re: Sad news, think I need to sell
Thank you everyone! I agree whole-heartedly that if I can avoid to sell I will. After reading everyone's responses and talking to a few people off the forum it seems the value can really be all over the place. Bottom line is if I can get on the high end for this bike than I'll have to part ways. But...

Re: Sad news, think I need to sell
@mataray - I love the marriage analogy. Thank you guys. Seems like there's really some disparity and it's hard to say really. I could always post it for sale and test the waters? If it meets a minimum reserve then I could sell. If not I have my answer. Truth is, if it's only worth $3k then I'm not t...

Sad news, think I need to sell
So a lot of you have seen on another thread I posted that I found my dads old 3 1/2 in his garage. I didn't know exactly what it was but have since been able to determine its '75 Sport. Thanks to everyone who help work out the details on that one. The mechanic is nearly done and I'll have the bike t...

Re: Found 1978 with only 760 miles! Help please?
Haha. Point taken on the drum brakes. I'll leave it alone. Thanks for all the feedback. I hope I don't have to sell this but in case I do I want to retain value as best as possible. When that day comes I'll be cashing in on those £5 over offers! Also I very much appreciate the tire suggestion. There...

Re: Found 1978 with only 760 miles! Help please?
Update from the mechanic: Carb kits, float needles and fuel filters all came in. All from Eurotrash Jambalaya in San Jose, CA. First step is finish carbs and change fluids. Should be done by next week. Timing belt we've had trouble locating. Waiting for Herdan to open tomorrow. Went with a Gates tha...

Re: Found 1978 with only 760 miles! Help please?
Spoke with the mechanic. He says there is indeed the "S" on the side and that near the VIN it actually says it's a '75. Not only answers that question but clearly illustrates just how little I knew about these bikes.
Your link confirms Mantaray, it is a 74/75. Thanks!

Re: Found 1978 with only 760 miles! Help please?
John - Thank you very much for the contacts on where to find parts. Also for clarifying it as a sport. Mantaray - Wow. This helps so much. Thank you! She's in the shop right now getting the previously mentioned service done. Ideally in a week or 2 I can confirm the "S" and the VIN. Would t...
