Re: Ignition Timing

There you go, from an expert. Looks like I have been doing it all wrong! 🤔

Anyway, good luck.

Ps can't find the embarrassed emoji.

Re: Ignition Timing

If this is in response to my above post, then the slot is irrelevant. The dot on the camshaft pulley needs to be at the bottom (180 degrees from the notch on the crankcase where the ignition timing is set) when the crank is at tdc on the compression stroke of No. 1 cylinder i.e. the Woodruff key on ...

Good. As we age, we don't bounce so well.

Steve.
I hope you didn't hit our Prime Minister. Joking aside, hope you are not damaged.

Re: Rocker breather pipes

I fitted some "ethanol proof" fuel lines shortly after I bought the bike as the ones that were on it were quite hard and inflexible. Absolutely the right thing to do. I'll be replacing mine soon. I remember the days when we didn't ever worry about such things. You could even leave a can o...

Maybe try an instrument expert like The Gauge Man, Peter Bond.

Re: Ignition Timing

At tdc on the compression stroke on the front cylinder the dot on the camshaft wheel is 180 degrees from the tdc mark on the crankcase. At this point the dot on the crankshaft sprocket should align with the dot on the crankcase. Well, that was how mine was when I changed the belt two weeks ago One t...

Re: New club member

X3 had a larger tank, rear disc and electric starter, a bit heavier!

Not sure if the X2 is still 6v/12v but the X3 was wholly 12 volt.

He may be irritating but he does get bikes onto mainstream TV.

Re: Ben Wylie

I read this yesterday. I first came across Ben when he was running Amore Moto. He was the new importer of Morinis and very enthusiastic. I would travel the 100 miles to him to have my Scrambler serviced and he once lent me a Corsaro ZT which I enjoyed around the Welsh borders, ending up at Llangolle...

Re: Charging Problem

Have you measured the resistance across the coils and to earth? The wires coming out of the coils look bare. Without a closer look, it is hard to say. The blue book does have a diagnostic page on charging problems.

Re: Morini 4 1/2

So the new Morini 31/2 will become the most powerful 350 at a whopping 32hp... My Strada made more than that in 1981, allegedly. However, a Modern 350 may well perform better. I would expect 90+mpg, seeing as my Strada does 70+ My only worry is whether the Chinese will support the bikes long enough ...

Re: Wanted Breather Junction box

I have modified my Strada by adding the breather box. It just needs a short tube from the engine breather and I have deleted the two restrictors. I run the rocker cover breathers to the box and the outlets are two into one and are aimed at the chain.
