Re: One step forward, then a brief clatter and the engine stopped
Regarding checking if the green seal is intact… This is just a thought, I’ve never tried it and you might have to make some bench tests on a slave engine but… What if you were to supply oil to the pump inlet by removing the mesh strainer and using a suitably sealing tube in the inlet? You might be a...

Re: 500 Frame with papers wanted
The machine registrar would be able to confirm but I’m fairly sure our MRC dating certificates have been used to successfully register a bike in France.
Certainly they have for a couple of Dutch registrations

Re: Electronic fuel tap rubber membranes
Here you go Paul. This is a scabby one in need of a clean up (and a new club diaphragm!) The diaphragm is not symmetrical- there is a domed face with a little recessed hole in the centre and a side that looks like a moat running around a raised island. The raised island is the pad which seals agains...

Orlandi Fuel tap rubber diaphragms
These are now available to buy via the club products page. Anyone at the rally will have had the opportunity to see the fuel tap test rig, but for those who missed it, check out the video- tap on the left is the new diaphragm, and on the right is an original. https://youtube.com/shorts/ZTbZKZnS2sM?f...

Re: Tyre choice
Tyres- very subjective. I like Avon roadrider 100 or 110/90/18 rear and 90/90/18 front on my Morini but Avons are getting almost impossible to find. I’ve heard good things said about continental classic attack and they are probably the tyres I’ll try next. Importantly make sure you for the right siz...

Re: Petrol pipe bore for the 250 2C to suit the fuel taps and carb inlets
Some morinis have one tap which is on/off and one which is reserve (especially the ones with an electric tap) In this configuration you can ride with only one tap on, so the balance pipe supplies fuel to both carbs, and then when you drop onto reserve you use the other tap. However any combination o...

Re: dating certificate
My experience with DVLA was that they wouldn't accept a dating certificate as proof of age - despite the club paying the requisite fee to be the recognised authority on dating Morinis. They would rather trust the data from "Glass's Check Book" - fortunately the Moto Guzzi club were very h...

Re: Ive bought an early 3 1/2 Sport !
As I’m sure you are aware, most Morini didn’t have engine numbers. Some export markets had numbers stamped, and when done they were usually (not always) in the vicinity of the rear engine mount. Number would be the frame number, minus the model designation prefix, so just a string of 5 numbers or so...

Re: Valentini Replica
Julian- thanks for speaking to Dennis. Did he give any idea of the cost of a jig- granted it’s extra cost but the alternative would be to produce a batch using someone’s bike to fit to, else everyone needs to take their bikes to him. That would tie someone’s bike up for a while and risk them all bei...

Re: Valentini Replica
Yes, both side and centre stands retained on my RMS equipped k1. If you have rearsets, the RMS can be a bit of a challenge in the rear downpipe clearance department on the disc rear braked bikes. In the past I’ve relieved the tarozzi hangar to clear the pipe and that’s been ok but my current set is ...

Re: 350 Exhaust Options
David- There is a sort-of plan by a few owners to have some replica RMS and Valentini systems made. See the thread at the below link, and if you’re interested stick a post there- the more who are interested the more viable it will become https://www.morini-riders-club.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&am...

Re: Electronic fuel tap rubber membranes
So, another update on these. They’re now in production. They will be available in time for the club’s rally in June (where you can also see the test rig) and will also be on sale via the club products page by the end of June. A great outcome, and well done to the club for putting in the money and ef...

Re: One way bearing again
I have never had or known that bearing or the spring to fail. In fact, I’ve never even replaced those items in any of my engines.
Definitely worth checking everything else out when you reassemble, and make sure the thrust washers and shims are correct and in the correct places
