Re: Side panels?

If it’s early ones you are after then these steel repros are the best that have ever been made:

Re: Check for leaks

The o ring should fit quite easily over the float, however normally the float expands in use and this is probably why it was tight to get off. Always a good idea to change the O ring when reassembling the tap. Sometimes a smear of hylomar on the flange faces is a good idea too. You are quite lucky y...

Re: Check for leaks

Not sure what the original tanks are made of. There are no material spec markings. What I can say is that they aren’t dimensionally stable so any repair to them needs to be a little flexible as well as fuel proof. Also, the outer surface is fairly repellant to anything bonding to it. It can of cours...

Check for leaks

Just a reminder to all you Dart owners to check for fuel tank/fuel tap leaks as part of your routine maintenance. It’s well worth the effort to take the panels off for a check- Even if you have an aluminium tank! It’s well known that fuel tank and tap leaks are a problem on darts, and the aluminium ...

Re: 501 kokusan engine in a k2?

Technically nothing is impossible but it will not be straightforward. I have seen a kokusan engine (including the starter) in an A3 frame before and that required lengthening of the rear engine mount bolt holes to be able to push the engine further back and some modifications to the front frame down...

Re: Replacement Stepper Motor

Have you connected to the bike with a laptop and diagnostic software? You can do so with freely available GuzziDiag software, and a cheap to buy diagnostic lead. With this you can as a minimum reset the Throttle Position Sensor zero point, but you can also actuate and (I think although I have never ...

Re: Key off, engine continues to run. Normal?

Nope, not normal behaviour! Key off the green wire from the switch should have continuity with earth. Unplug the green wire from the switch at the fusebox and check this. If it doesn’t Check that the switch earth is good. If it is then you have a faulty switch. If the earth is bad that could be your...

Re: 500 Side Panel - Rubber Standoff/Bumpers 3D Print Files

Thanks for sharing and glad you have found a solution that works for you. 3D printing definitely changes how we can continue to keep our bikes on the road. The club actually manufactures high quality sidepanel pins already, moulded in rubber not printed. They are available on the clubs products page...

Re: Replacement headlamp

Getting very hard to find! The dart 400 had a slightly different headlight to the 350 I believe- they tend to protrude from the fairing rather than being flush like on the 350. Presumably a homologation requirement in some market the 400 was sold in. But the more flush type like the 350 looks better...

Re: Oil pressure check

A lot of measurements and a few wrongly purchased parts but I found the right one eventually!!! If you use the oil level light then keep in mind that the neutral warning light tees in so that when in neutral the oil pressure light will come on as well (bulb check). This is useful (to check the bulb)...

Re: Oil pressure check

Welcome to Morini Dart ownership! On my dart I fitted a pressure switch and it was very straightforward. Peugeot 205 MK2 1.4 1987-1998 FAE Oil Pressure Switch #1215 is an almost straight fit in place of the original lower oil cooler line banjo. The Peugeot pressure switch has a smaller diameter bore...

Re: Gearbox Parts Availability

New gearbox parts are hard (impossible) to come by but generally speaking they don’t go bang in a major way so used clusters and components should be ok to source. Can you find out more about ‘not quite right’ means and we might be able to give more specific advice. Very early gearboxes had aluminum...

Re: 500 Strada front brakes.........

They aren’t floating calipers- there are pistons on both sides so there is no fixed pad… Are you sure the piston in that side isn’t sticking and therefore not pushing the pad out? Some of the available seal kits are very tight in the caliper and can cause the pistons to stick, so even if they’ve had...

Re: New heat shield

A club member organised getting the tooling made off an original heatshield we supplied them with. A few people have bought them and they look good. Agree that a realistic leadtime would be more helpful but I have no reason to doubt their integrity. They make a lot of stuff for speedway so I wouldn’...

Re: 500 Strada front brakes.........

On my k1 (same setup as the 500 essentially) I used shims betweeen the caliper and fork to ensure an even clearance each side of pad and disc. m10x16mm in thicknesses from 0.1 to 0.5mm are easily available.
