ace Cafe Sunday 4th May- Italian day

Don’t forget it’s Italian day at the Ace cafe on 4th May and the club have been asked to support it with a throng of Morinis. Most morinis are by now ULEZ compliant (either registered as historic, or the watercooled bikes are all post Euro 3, so only a few between 1985 and 199x which are not. check ...

Waterpump

Water pumps can be a bit noisy on Corsaros but I think mine is noisier than it was. Still functioning fine but keen to investigate before I have a problem. Has anyone replaced the pump or bearings in the past? The manual talks about inspecting the impeller but no mention of any bearings and seals. U...

Re: Alternator wires / connector

Just to update on this one- I got some decent butt splice connectors and crimped these into the alternator wires, and run new wires all the way to the regulator, of a decent quality and larger gauge. Double insulated everything with adhesive heat shrink. Now getting a consistent 14-14.2V on the dash...

Re: Oil change shenanigans

yes, you are right and apologies for the bum steer... I just went and had a look at mine and no, I obviously don't use a crows foot. So I took a look at ATG 341 (April 2016), in which I wrote an article on fluid change on my corsaro, and this confirms I use a slim 12 point ring spanner and a careful...

Re: Oil change shenanigans

On the Corsaro, I use a crows foot spanner on the drain plug, which means not having to remove the front exhaust header. You still get oil all over the downpipe but that’s easily cleaned up, and for me a better option than disturbing the exhaust sealing. I have a feeling last time I did mine, the O ...

Re: Front Indicators

IMG_1446.jpeg IMG_1448.jpeg It was a bit variable on the earliest bikes as they were not standard fitment, and positioning of the bracket for the rears in particular can be a bit hit and miss. I believe my ‘75 were factory fitted as the bike has never been repainted and the brackets look original. ...

Re: Replacement Stepper Motor

Interested in this post as mine isn’t behaving as well as it did either. It’ll almost certainly be the same as fitted to something else. Are there any identifying manufacturer or part number marks on the motor once you’ve removed it? How did you get it out, out of interest? I’ve not tried myself but...

Re: Black 9 1/2

I bought a 1098 sensor for my Corsaro. Same other than the cable being longer which is obviously not a problem.

Re: Rear shocks

Yes, I’ve rebuilt quite a few of these now. I wrote an article in ATG 381 (December 2022) which gives a step by step guide, worth digging that one out if you have it. If you don't then I have just created an extract of the article from ATG and put it into the members area at the below location: www....

Re: Fork top bolt question...........

If you mean the small screw in the top of the fork top nut, i’ve always found it slow and messy to get oil in via that hole. I tend to just undo the whole top nut (one side at a time) and pour the oil in. With the bike on the centre stand it’s fine to do one at a time without the need to jack the fr...

Alternator wires / connector

I let my Corsaro idle for a while today to get some fresh fuel run through it (no MOT else I’d have taken it for a ride). Afterwards I noticed the yellow wires on the left side of the frame from the alternator were very hot at the connector. I knew this has been a weak point and some bikes have expe...

Re: 500 Strada starting

Thanks Tim, from receipts I can see that Benjy Straw did some work in Nov 24, so can't have been sat too long, battery is good & brimmed with petrol, probably be Friday before I can spend some time going over it though. Good luck with it - My one did have slightly the wrong plugs in it - B7ES r...

Re: Vhb25b carb

The originals on the early carbs were made of something like mazak and are prone to crumbling. Quite risky as any bits get sucked into your engine.

I replaced mine with the plastic parts off a later Morini carb, which are a straight swap. I couldn’t recommend any reason to refit metal ones
