Re: 500 parts list
Tim, don’t have one but would be a useful addition to the club library, it would appear that all 500 need parts, anyway that is my experience

Re: Electric Starter fault
I thought so, I need to give the starter a general overall, weak legs makes the electric boot essential these days, extra gym sessions doesn’t seem to compensate for the wear and tear that comes with age

Re: Electric Starter fault
Hi Micky, hope you are well.
With regret I must report that there is adequate power reaching the electric motor.

Paul

Electric Starter fault
Great weather today so decided to give the bike and me a short shake down after fitting a new battery. No real issues until I returned home. The bike failed to start on the button, just a loud click from the relay. The bike has a solid state Durit relay, no visible fault, earth ok, wires fine, stran...
Re: New seat
Hi Tim, the seat you have is off the later sport, nothing wrong with that, you will find each Morini is individual, they evolve over time. I am pleased that you have the bike running and that you have completed your first ride. I think it is time for me to buy a new battery for mine, I too have a gr...

Re: 500 Strada starting
I assume you have the choke lever on the handle bars. Check the routing and condition of the cables under the tank. Mine were in poor condition so I opted for individual chokes on each carb. This allows you to start the bike with the choke activated on one carb and in my view gets rid of the cables ...

Re: 500 Strada starting
Hi Tim, had a similar problem, sounds obvious but it is worth checking the ht leads, you might have a poor connection particularly with the transducers. Worth reseating these you might find that the bike will fire up instantly, mine did.

Re: What year/model 500?
Hi Oly, 500W would be a first generation model, 5 speed. The 500 was available in red, metallic red and metallic grey. My own 500 is metallic grey, registered in November 1979, although date of registration is not always a good indication of year or model. Not sure about the US but here in the UK ne...
Re: Plugs
Good advice, unfortunately many have disappeared whether that be due to retirement or in many cases passed on. Back in the day you would visit your local bike shop and buy new old stock marked up with a pre- decimal price. Usually the shops were very small with every inch of floor, wall and ceiling ...
Re: Plugs
Thanks for the advice guys, I have managed to secure a Uk supplier for the plug caps, NGK SDO1F, at a reasonable price. Once I have replaced the leads and caps we will see if there is an improvement. I have previously had the tank cleaned and relined, carbs sonically cleaned, new float needles etc s...
Re: Plugs
Just a continuation of this post, update you might say. With the help of a fellow member I have been continuing to work through what has become a bit of a garage queen. My issues with the front pot came down to a loose connection where the HT lead pushes into the transducer. Obviously continual remo...

Re: Electronic fuel tap rubber membranes
Does anyone have a breakdown of the electronic fuel tap internals.
I have checked the rubber membrane only to find I haven’t got one.

Re: October Stafford
You clearly felt that the club failed you when you visited the club stand at the weekend. Whilst I was not there at the weekend I can assure you from past experience that the club goes out of their way to welcome all visitors to the stand. Yes there is, as with any club, a small minority that go the...
Re: Oil leak
Thanks Ming/Mark for your suggestions, wise words indeed. Mark - you are right to suggest that many Morini’s have been messed with, unusually this 500, on the outside at least, looks like it has just left the showroom, probably that was my error as the V5 shows nine previous owners, so plenty of sco...
