thanks all, some v knowledgeable people on this group, in all the years ive had this bike its been a crap starter, the sachse system seems to have sorted that issue, i can live without a rev counter no problem, do any of you fellas get to stafford ?

stator was rewound at nlm, reading about 200ish ohm but thats with a cheap multi meter, have tried bypassing ignition, apparently the spark given with these new pickups/transducers/cdi's is weak anyway but this is hardly sparking at all.

Robin, thanks for the reply, yep, all was eventually well, its a new ignition switch and everything checked out ok, couldnt get a spark but i'm sure thats the pickup/transducers that are knackered, the bikes been off the road since 84, dismantled i think around 97 and stored badly so its a new ignit...
