Re: Where to find 3 1/2 Ignition Coil Formers ?

Is Paul a member on here by any chance, or would someone have contact info they might share ?

Currently looking at the possibility of sourcing a Vespa lighting coil to strip and use the former from.

Where to find 3 1/2 Ignition Coil Formers ?

Good folk of the Riders Forum... I need to source a new former for the ignition coil on the Strada. A friend of mine has dismantled the unit for rewiring, and the original 47 year old former has disintegrated. I had a look across the forum using the search function there, but haven't been able to fi...

Re: Wiring help - NLM Transducer kit with coils

Hey Steve. Just checked, and my bike has a little diode mounted in line in the green wire from the ignition coil that goes in and out of the fusebox/terminal block. Im not really au-fait with the electrical and electronics side of thing, but after a quick look at the circuit diagrams, I imagine if I...

Re: Welcome new forum members - introduce yourself

Hi Julian - yes, I did indeed join the club. Let me know if you're coming across of course - be delighted to hook up if you're passing anywhere close. I'm based just North of Dublin (close to the famous Skerries Road Racing circuit if you fancy a slightly more moderately-paced jaunt round it :)) Alan

Re: Wiring help - NLM Transducer kit with coils

A slightly delayed update on this - but finally got to the bottom of the no-spark issue, with more than a little help from the kind and infinitely patient JonD of this parish. Turned out not only was I using the wrong wiring diagrams, I also had completely misinterpreted how the OEM 3 1/2 ignition s...

Wiring help - NLM Transducer kit with coils

Gentlemen / ladies, Apologies for the ongoing chain of queries in the Strada recommissioning challenge. I had the bike together and running weekend before last, and took it for a shakedown spin round the local area. Got a little bit overconfident and went further than I should until (probably not en...

Re: New Strada owner - hello & a switchgear question

Wasn't aware of that phenomenon , but my bike has been hard to kick, and I noticed there's a fairly hefty dollop of grease in and around the contacts on the kill-switch on the bars, so will clean that off just in case it has been a factor. So...brief update on the problematic switch and suspect wiri...

Re: New Strada owner - hello & a switchgear question

Whereabouts are you? I bought a Camino switch for my Strada but managed to save the original switch. Hence, if you want it, you can have it. I'm in Northampton. Regards George Hey George - very decent of you. I'm in Ireland unfortunately, so it'd probably be not hugely more expensive for me to pick...

Re: New Strada owner - hello & a switchgear question

Is the Camino switch (barring the wiring) a straight drop in to the original switch mounting plates on the Morinis Steve ?

Re: New Strada owner - hello & a switchgear question

Aye Steve, now that I know far more about 5-6 pole ignition switches than I ever wanted to - I might even be tempted to forget about the parking light circuit and just fit a generic 4 pole Chinese or Japanese pattern one :) At this stage the originality's gone whichever way I go, so can start to pla...

Re: Welcome new forum members - introduce yourself

I meant to ask btw - are there any current members based in Ireland North or South ? I know there were a few very active posters and at least one fantastic looking 3 1/2 restoration undertaken by somebody from on here in days gone by, but wondered if there's any other Morini owners who might be loca...

Re: New Strada owner - hello & a switchgear question

Ah thanks John - appreciate that. Mine is a slightly different construction - but really useful info nonetheless. There's no wavy plate in mine, looks like the 'indexing' perhaps relies instead on ball bearings (or something else) being pressed in and out of the grooves in the metal casing of the sw...
