Re: 1974 3 1/2, gearbox issues
I wonder, if Soren has a drawing, that could be converted and made by 3D printing? It doesn't have to be too strong, just have holes in the right places. This would help people like the original poster who is unlikely to have much in the way of local support get the tool much more easily. Just a th...

Re: 1974 3 1/2, gearbox issues
I bought mine from Soren in Denmark. (there should be an accent above the O in his name) His version is a simplified but good, simple plate rather than a cut away crankcase. Hopefully he can be contacted via a search on here, or look for his youtube videos, he has done a few very useful videos abou...

Re: 1974 3 1/2, gearbox issues
Thanks all for the great info! Much appreciated. The special tool George referred to is Morini Special Tool 008. Attached are some images from 'The Blue Book' which can be downloaded from the Club Library if you are a member. Yep, I'm a member and have a printed manual on the way as well. Is this sp...

1974 3 1/2, gearbox issues
I've fetched a mostly complete and running '74 3 1/2, with known gearbox issues. I asked about this bike a while back prior to purchasing, not knowing any real details of the gearbox and inquiring about parts availability. Given it sounds like most anything could be addressed and the price was right...

Re: Gearbox Parts Availability
Thanks! Good to know, I'll be in touch if needed.simonnorthroad wrote: ↑06 May 2025 22:04 Have lots of gearbox spares if you need them, though I am in the UK
I'm being told the bike pops out of third gear under reasonably hard acceleration. If riding is less spirited, it's usually fine.

Side panels?
Are aftermarket side panels for the 3 1/2 available anywhere? My Googling isn't turning up much. I'm looking at a bike missing them, but am mostly interested in it as a rider. No big deal to me on this one if it's not perfectly period correct. If side panels are unobtanium, what have others done to ...

Key off, engine continues to run. Normal?
Subject line says it all. While I'm getting the 500 sorted without much difficulty, and it runs fine - I'm only able to kill the engine with the handlebar switch. Turning off the key does nothing, it continues to run.
Is this normal behavior?

Re: 500 Side Panel - Rubber Standoff/Bumpers 3D Print Files
I wasn't aware of those, Tom - thanks for pointing them out. No doubt real rubber would be higher quality, and had I known I'd probably have just ordered up. However, these definitely do the trick for those with the resources to print them out. Now...to find a folding footpeg option. Somebody point ...

500 Side Panel - Rubber Standoff/Bumpers 3D Print Files
A minor goody, but perhaps others will find it useful. One of my 500 side panels cracked, and I think it was probably due to the little rubber bumper standoffs it's supposed to rest on. Both were missing and the panel was flopping around on the metal pins the bumpers are supposed to sit on. I'm tota...

Re: Gearbox Parts Availability
Appreciate the detailed reply, Tom - thanks!
I'll try and get more info on the symptoms, but I'm not being led to believe a "bang" occurred. It sounds less dramatic than that.

Gearbox Parts Availability
Apologies for the ignorance, I'm still in the "getting to know you" stage with Morinis. Further, this question is necessarily vague. I've been on the hunt for a 3 1/2 in the US for quite some time. I might have an opportunity to fetch one as-is, with the caveat that the transmission is &qu...

Re: What year/model 500?
Thanks for the info, Paul. And yes, I'm guessing this one also sat for a while before first sale. The MSO in the paperwork shows the bike was transferred in December of 1984 to the dealer, even though it shows a model year of 1981. With the MSO presumably coming from the US importer at the time (Her...

What year/model 500?
Greetings, all. I've fetched my first Morini, a....198x 500 something. I'm lacking in clue and have plenty of questions, but I'm thinking I should start by figuring out what exactly I have. :) Clues on year: - EPA sticker on rear fender references 1980 - Paperwork includes an MSO showing model year ...
