Re: Kickstart Extender For 350 Sport
Thanks for the replies. I went for the one off ebay as I'm impatient and wanted to try out my new rearsets and there's no guarantee I'd win the Morini Club auction. The ebay seller does two versions - long to suit fixed footpegs and short to suit folding footpegs. I went for the short. Needed a litt...

Kickstart Extender For 350 Sport
Does anyone have a kickstart extender they'd be prepared to part with before I start trying to make my own?
Were the NLM ones aluminium or steel?
Thanks
Howard

Re: Greasers with rearsets
My understanding is that Tarozzi ceased production some time ago. I would like to be corrected on this however! I'm not sure on that but I ordered a set of Tarozzi rearsets from https://www.caferacerwebshop.com/en/ a few weeks ago and they've been despatched today coincidentally. They did contact m...

Re: Tank Slapper Over Rumble Strips
Well, I popped the shocks off this afternoon while I've got no work on, and they're fine. Damping feels good over the whole range with no loss over small displacements. No sign of any leaks. I'm almost disappointed. They're scruffy and could do with a repaint, and I'd like to get the springs coated ...

Re: Tank Slapper Over Rumble Strips
Hey John, thanks for that link. I may well give that a try when I've had a closer look at the shocks. They're probably not the root cause of the tank slapper but they are nearly 50 years old so would likely benefit from some TLC. Norbert, I think you're right. Once the tank slapper had been initiate...

Re: Tank Slapper Over Rumble Strips
Hi Jenny, I don't have a steering damper fitted. I think it would have broken the mounting bracket if I'd had one, the oscillation was that violent. I used to have one on my Sport, years ago, and always thought the bracket was weedy and flexed a lot. Yes, you've found the stretch of road. I've been ...

Re: Tank Slapper Over Rumble Strips
The shocks are the original (1977) Marzocchis so could well benefit from a rebuild or replacement with Hagons that many people seem to like. To be fair, they don't feel soft or lacking in damping but it might not be a bad idea to give them a closer look off the bike. I googled tank slappers on rumbl...

Tank Slapper Over Rumble Strips
Anyone suffered from a tank slapper going over rumble strips? Just come back from an hour or so out on my 3½ and the handling is impeccable. Except that when I was on a dual carriageway approaching a roundabout in the outside lane, and for a few hundred yards there are quite severe rumble strips. Do...

Re: Brake discs
Ah. Have to say yours looks a lot worse than mine did :( I'm not sure that looks recoverable at home. I don't think normal brake usage will rectify that. I did a few hundred miles on mine with nothing like the level of rust/patchiness and it didn't improve, hence resorting to the orbital sander as I...

Re: Brake discs
I had a similar issue on the bike I bought last year. There was a dark print of the brake pad on the inside face of the disc and a consequent pulsing of the brake at low speed. Particularly annoying when trying to come to a smooth halt. Colour me nasty but I introduced the brake disc to my random or...

Re: Fork damper rod identification
Just to report back on this, as a very happy bunny. I had my first ride out this afternoon since rebuilding the front end, and what a transformation! The forks are now fitted with matching original springs but despite buying a Marzocchi damper rod to replace the Paioli item, I found it too problemat...

Re: Lithium Battery in 3 1/2
I'm a bit guarded about Lithium batteries and much prefer Odyssey AGMs. For the last 20 years I've been sprinting and hillclimbing a Westfield car with quite a high spec 2ltr Vauxhall engine which needs a good battery to crank it over. In that time I've used two Odyssey PC680 batteries and they each...

Re: Exeter trial
That looks like a lot of fun. It put me in mind of many (40  ) years ago a bunch of friends and I had a go at the North Somercotes Winter Series motocross. I only did a couple because I quickly realised I was rubbish. We ran in the trail bike class and I was on a borrowed DT175. The marshals ...

Re: Fork damper rod identification
Hi Norbert, that's good information - thank you! You're right -the thread is different at the top of the stanchions. I hadn't noticed that. I had noticed that the stanchions are a different length though. The stanchion with the Paioli damper has a finer thread and the stanchion is 10mm longer. The c...
