Rear brake shoes
After reading on here somewhere about having brake shoes re-lined by Villier Services and one of my rears delaminating, I sent them down to Villiers to be re-lined, I now have them back looking like new for £22.95 inclusive of VAT and return postage. Great service and and price.

Re: gearing
Update, but first I would like to thank everyone who commented and tried to help with suggestions. At last, I have found the problem and the bike is running 98% better (it just needs some fine-tuning now) after trying all the suggestions the only thing I hadn't tried was what Paul Compton suggested ...

Re: gearing
The 2 marking is for oversize, meaning 0.2mm or first oversize, measurements would confirm this. I reckon the dots were made by a "mechanic" to keep parts together as Steve says. Mark Hi Mark and thanks for your help, I thought the 2 was for oversized but thought it was for 2nd oversize, ...

Re: gearing
Hi Mickey, mostly excess gasket compound I think, I have never seen so much gasket compound used to put a cylinder head gasket on before. The valve guides are good.
Thanks, Budge.

Re: gearing
Sorry I can't explain the dots or be sure about the number 2. I would personally disregard the dots as either damage from debris in the past or some previous owners marking to keep parts from a particular cylinder together. The spring under the oil ring is as you've read, only for older type piston...

Re: gearing
The gasket was so well stuck to the head that I thought it was part of the head.

Re: gearing
Hi, still working my way through the problems with this bike. I have noticed that there is no spring under the front cylinder oil ring as it says in the manual but have read in another post that this was only for the earlier bikes,(this is a Strada 81) also there is a dot on the cylinder head and do...

Hi, not sure as I am new to Morinis but just watched this video by Paul Compton, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuaQ_eGjPy8 and he mentioned NLM.

Re: Just stopped!
Hi, I bought a non-runner Morini with no spark and before joining MRC found this guy on YouTube, he says 180 ohms is about as low as you can go.
Good luck with getting her going, Budge. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWyYDVu ... IY&index=3

Re: gearing
Hi The rocker arm bushes and shafts are often worn, that won't stop them running, might well add to the general clatter. The non captive rocker should only have a little end float like 0.1mm, so shaft might need pushing through. Mdina Italia in the UK might even have new ones, or second hand. Dont ...

Re: gearing
What Steve said. I have spare rocker gear. It might just be in need of rings on the bad cylinder, though in my experience they will run surprisingly well with at least the oil control rings in multiple pieces. was there much coming out of the crankcase breather ? Hi and thanks for the reply, no I c...

Re: gearing
Oh dear, that isn't sounding positive. I will have a spare valve adjuster assuming your rockers etc are ok-mind you, I might have rockers to spare too. Don't get too despondent, these engines are fairly easily worked on and fixed if you can find the parts. And the parts are mostly available too. Le...

Re: gearing
Make sure the seal at the bottom of the choke plunger sits in place and seals properly. I replaced mine but one of the seals became dislodged during fitting of the plunger and caused a lot of head scratching until I pulled carb to bits again and spotted the squashed seal. Thanks again for your help...

Re: gearing
If it won’t pull top with a 40t rear it’s never going to pull a 38t. Get those carbs rebuilt check carefully the jets and atomiser specs and verify fuel taps are free flowing. Check needles don't look too corroded or worn and no muck in the floatbowls. Eurocarb sell rebuild kits. Watch Paul Compton...
