Strada Headlamp bracket straps
The clown that is me has snapped-I think by over tightening-the metal ‘straps’ that wrap around the rubbers. The complete brackets are new on Mdina at a pretty reasonable £70 odd quid (Morini part numbers 19.02.23/24), but I don’t need the bracket body just the fixings. Classic Ducati’s site has wha...

Re: Fuel taps and correct usage thereof
Anyway, it FEELS fast, especially on the right roads! Back to being a young ‘un and way better than a mate of mine who said-in what I guess was a tired and cliched attempt at ‘bravado’ that his BMW S1000RRRR doesn’t feel fast at anything below 140mph…I stifled a yawn

Re: Fuel taps and correct usage thereof
Thanks both, good things to know. I’m very much enjoying riding it at the moment so will have a snoop around in winter. To be honest, other than a slight ‘cough’ at around 4,000 rpm it runs really well, smooth & tractable below 6k and pulls strong to 8k. I’m not really bothered about the seldom ...

Fuel taps and correct usage thereof
Good evening. I’ve already hidden behind the settee if this is ‘bleedin’ obvious’ but when I got my ‘80 Strada (with manual taps) I always turned them both on. Anyway, it always seemed to be running rich until I saw a post that said the original electric tap was automatic and the right hand manual t...

Re: How noisy is your Strada?
Evening! I thought I’d updated my progress but it appears not! Anyway I took the tank off and, on the main frame tube, was some very old and threadbare foam. I cut strips from an old back protector and cable tied them to the tube and also stuck a strip of the soft half of Velcro to the underside of ...

Re: How noisy is your Strada?
check the rubber between the tank and frame , if it is worn the noise is pretty horrible adding some noise dampening on the bottom of the tank also makes a big difference Hi Huub I don’t know if you’ve got the parts book but if so is is on page 70/71 item 23 (21.01.55) foam tank pad? Of course I’ll...

Re: How noisy is your Strada?
Interesting comments and whilst I don’t potter about, it’s only polite to turn up the spirit! The tank/frame insulation seems to be the area so something to look at, I’m also going to make sure there’s something under the battery as it seems to suggest in the parts book. Living n South Yorkshire I c...

Re: How noisy is your Strada?
Yes I think something else resonating could be it I’m going to take a good look around. The sound of the bike I feel is lovely to the bystander and yes redvee it’s a lovely departure from the modern muffled to death bikes, this is the ‘internal’ racket somewhere around me when the revs rise but I’ll...

Re: How noisy is your Strada?
Thanks Mickey, for sure it isn’t rattly and I feel for a bike of this age it’s smooth with the belt. I can also live with this but in that 4-6000 area it does seem to get loud!

How noisy is your Strada?
Hope this isn’t a(nother) daft question but here goes..I’ve sold my big Guzzi-I love it but age is advancing and it’s getting heavier-so I’m going to be riding my 1980 Strada a lot more. Of course she’s 43 old so I don’t expect the same refinement but I do think between 4-6,000 RPM it’s fairly noisy...

Re: Disc lock/security
Having been in the trade for most of my life I’ve known of a lot of bikes nicked in all sorts of bizarre situations. I remember once a dealer showing me round his new premises proudly boasting how secure they were; I looked up and said ‘aren’t you worried about the skylights?’ ‘No’ came the answer ‘...

Re: First Ride and a few questions
Hijacking the thread slightly but should help the OP, Mark when time allows could you identify the Gutsibits fuel taps (if R/H and L/H) by Gutsibits part numbers please as there seems to be a few options. Asking as I appear to have the same issue on my 1980 Strada, I also have a Guzzi so a regular a...
