Re: Another Camel
Hi Angelo, True about the projects, certainly I'm never bored. For many years I've toyed with the idea that I should concentrate on 1 bike or make but other things come along and I end up with several projects. This of course means time and money has to be shared out which inevitably means it always...

Re: Another Camel
Cheers Angelo, I do have the original fender but it's in poor condition. Perhaps I will have ago at restoring it to present a more original look. If I can bring it to a condition to match the rest of the bike I would be happy, not to keen on the total restored look, I like the as used but tidy look....

Another Camel
After some correspondence with Angelo63 recently, he suggested I might post some pictures of my camel Mk.1. Have thought about posting pics before but never sure if I could handle the process, so here goes. https://i.postimg.cc/k44xCQRm/DSC09931.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/g04v1SJs/DSC09933.jpg https:/...

Re: 500 Camel mk1 - short story of a recovery
Ooo, I'm afraid that price puts a replica binnacle out of my range, will have to do with the modified Kanguro X unit currently fitted. It's a lovely piece of work and I suppose the material, carbon fibre will add to the cost. Afraid I have to many projects and have to share out the pennies. Many tha...

Re: 500 Camel mk1 - short story of a recovery
Hi Angelo, Thanks for your quick response, yes, I would be most pleased if you could make me a binnacle, please send me details of cost and postage and I will pay in advance. Perhaps if you advise cost on the forum and wait a little while, other owners may also like to have one and make contact. Sal...

Re: 500 Camel mk1 - short story of a recovery
Hi Angelo, Thanks for the information regarding the instrument binnacle, not sure how many people would want one here in the UK. However, I would be interested in your old one should you wish to sell it. The condition does not look to bad, so, if you want to sell it, please send me a PM with a price...

Re: 500 Camel mk1 - short story of a recovery
Hi Angelo, Bike looks great, love the Mk1 Camels. I am also impressed with your manufacture of the instrument binnacle /cowl as I am missing this part for my Mk1., I have the rubber headlamp and would love to get hold of a cowl. Seems there are at least 3 people interested in this item, do you fancy...

Re: Posting pics of Camels and other animals.
Steve, Bike looks great, will pop round to see it in the flesh soon unless you are passing ours on one of your test runs. You'll have to tell me where the green lanes are, will check them out on the mountain bike first though.Think my Camel might be a bit heavy for me off road, front disc's a bit se...

Re: Camel fuel taps
Steve, My fibre glass Mk 1 tank has a M16 fine male to male adapters that fit into the threaded sleeve in the tank, the petrol tap then fits onto the male thread via the nut as used used on the normal type of tap used on the Kanguro's and Mk1 Camels, not sure if they are the same fitting as the road...

Re: Missing Camel
Hi Sheikh, Steve, Hope you are successful in tracing the the moulds for the side panels. My memory must be playing tricks as when I got the bike I recall Van going on about the rarity of the panels but do not recall him saying he had the moulds. I think I got most of his Morini bits off him when I g...

Re: Missing Camel
Hi Sheikh, Not been on the Forum lately and only just seen your request. I own the ex Van Tran Camel and can confirm the the side panel patterns did not come with the bike. Also, as I recall, Van did not initiate the manufacture of the patterns. I believe he got the pair for my bike from the chap wh...

Re: Camel/Kanguro headlight+shroud
Steve, NLM had a headlamp cowl for a Mk11 I think, it was the type which took the large round headlamp but don't think it had a screen, it was a while ago but it was a nice unit. Also, I have a couple of X3 types for the rectangular light unit, pop round and have a look if you like. If you manage to...

Re: Camel - Rear Drum
Hi Butch, The Nufren brake linings ( from NLM ) I had the problem with were black, and after use silver metallic bits could be seen in the linings. The ones you have don't sound like Nufren. The Saftek linings I changed to were brown. Best to put them on and have a look after a couple of hundred mil...

Re: Camel - Rear Drum
I had some brake drum / shoe issues with my first first Morini, the drum braked model X Kanguro which I got about 10 years ago. The bike had been standing a while and the shoes on the back and the front looked a bit iffy so these were replace with new items, the drums were ok. The bike was used quit...
