After having the starter solenoid welding its contacts on my 350K2, I thought I would investigate the current draw. The starter solenoid fitted was a Lucas item with no part number on it. Thanks for the replies. There was some evidence of the casting being nibbled. I'll just adjust it up a bit to reduce the slack, but not enough to prematurely wear out the bearings.

350K2 Starter Motor Chain Tension

When checking out the starter setup, found that the chain had quite a bit of slack. The adjustment will take up all of the slack, but I can't find a figure for what's recommended. I'm referring to the 'bottom' of the chain run. Also the 'filler plug' was missing. A 6mm grommet looks like it might do...

The pics are from my 1983 K2. The two hex bolts are M6. The M6 pillar standoffs are 20mm deep.
