Re: strange brake pad wear
To close this off. I have cleaned the calipers with brake cleaner and rags, poking into nooks and crannies (I havent stripped them). Cleaned the powder coating off the caliper contact areas which bolt to the fork. Fitted EBC Double-H Sintered Sportbike Pad Set FA076HH. Packed the space between fork ...

Re: Brake caliper top bolt and spacer
Thanks Norbert, the front calipers are the triangle ones. They don't have a plastic cap across the top. (edited as the penny has dropped after a coffee!)

I also require the same components, or at least the bolt if anyone has one available.
Thanks Robin

Re: strange brake pad wear
Yes, this is the original twin disk 500 SEI with Grimeca calipers mounted rigidly to the forks. It seems I have a combination of issues from those suggested. The top stepped bolt on that caliper is bent, I hadn't noticed on disassembly, but checked by rotating in a drill. Will post a seperate reques...

Re: strange brake pad wear
Thanks for input. There was no spacer between the caliper and fork. This is what I was thinking of shimming. Back in the workshop tomorrow and will check further.

strange brake pad wear
I heard a grating noise from my front brake yesterday so rode home slowly and just using the rear brake. Upon examination today, the pads on the left caliper have worn very unevenly and are very thin and below the limit in some corners. I have ordered new pads. A previous owner has rebuilt the brake...

Re: Plastic tank liner
Not tried that product, nor sealing a plastic tank, I used a product called Slosh on a steal tank 4 or 5 years ago. I've done about 12000 miles since. I accidentaly spilt some on a hammer and plastic screwdriver handle which were on the bench. It is still sticking to both tools, admitedly not expose...

Re: Welsh Section?
Hi Ian, family events have come up next weekend so I won't be able to make it. Next free weekend is April 20/21st.
How about meeting at the Owls Nest followed by a tootle over the Black Mountain pass?
Happy to go elsewhere.

Re: Welsh Section?
Brecon Classic Bike show. Sat April 6th, Brecon Market Hall LD3 9AH. 10a.m. to 4p.m. free entry. Plenty of nearby parking.
It was pretty good last year, organisers claimed over a hundred entries, mainly Brit stuff but also some interesting European bikes, Benelli, Ducati and boxer MZs

Re: Welsh Section?
Ian, Saturday 6th April is Brecon classic bike show. A couple of other Morini mates are planning to visit that week so there could be 4 (or more) Morinis here that week if you want to meet up.

Re: Coguaro 350 engine parts.
The possible purchase has gone quiet. The bike belongs to a friend of a friend who lives 6 hours away. He was going to send photos, but hasn't yet. Evidently he doesn't live near the bike. One day maybe!

Re: clutch spring nuts seized
WD40 isn't a very effective penetrating oil. Plus gas or loctite freeze and release are more effective. Worth reying one hf these before resorting to more brutal means. Doesn't always work, but a good start.
