Re: Stock Air Box questions

Thanks for the reponses. I'm in the process of grooving it today. Also sealing up the breather holes while I'm at it. Thanks George on that info. Norbert, looked up your project. Very cool and if it IS your last build it's a great choice to ride off into the sunset on.[6 speed helps there]

Stock Air Box questions

Hello, Finally came across a stock air box in great condition for my 500 sport. Installed it at the end of last year as winter was setting in and I can say its a change for the better from the few rides I was able to get in. So a couple of questions I have on the assembly. The first is throttle cabl...

Re: stator rewind

Thanks for the responses. I had forgot to ask about the screw and bolt method which seamed suspect when I read it. Thanks for hitting that point Ming. I have already ordered the wires from wires.com.uk mhmm so hopefully they will be here in the next few days. Lately I have had stuff either breeze th...

stator rewind

Hello, so I am gonna give it a go rewinding my ignition coil. I'm measuring 170 ohms consistently on multiple meters and the bike is hard to start so its time. Also sent the pickup out to be rebuilt so there's some down time. It's for a 500 Sport but I figured might as well post on the 3.5 heading a...

Re: Removing kickstart lever

Hi, anyone dealing with kickstarter issues should watch Paul Comptons video on YouTube. I found that even if I was addressing issues with the kickstarter without removing the side case it gave me more confidence knowing what was going on in there. Recently I did a full overhaul of the mechanism and ...

Re: Brakelines

So I just ordered complete brake lines for my 500 sport. I purchased the hard pipes from the caliper to the lines from from either MDINA or Herdan. I can't recall but both probably have them. As far as the lines, I ended up getting them made up from HEL which has been mentioned here already. One big...

Flywheel Cover Swap

Hello, New to the forum and so far most issues that I have had issues with have been helped with the search button going through past posts. My 1980 500 Sport has had a bent starter drum ever since I have had it. Probably someone trying to pull the flywheel at some point with a gear puller. I just g...
