Re: is it the carbs
Hi David, High idle speed could be due to slides hanging on the cables, (not sitting on throttle stop screws), float level too high - (adjustment or leaky float), or over advanced ignition. Running rich won't help either. Unlikely to be an air leak as starts without choke, but 'never say never', so ...

Re: Stator Bobbins
Hi, While I can't help re bobbins, I have to ask, how many laminations do you need them for? Machined flywheel type have less than cast flywheel/electric start ones, ie the metal bit is thinner on the earlier ones. Good idea you have there though. I'm sure there will be others very interested if you...

Re: low to mid range flat spot
Hi Barney, Well known issue on the Sports. My belief is it is caused by the very late inlet cam closing, meaning a significant amount of the inlet charge goes back over the main jet and then back again, hence why it goes so rich. As you say, the Strada with a milder cam doesn't do it. Several 'solut...

Re: 500 sport marzocchi 35mm fork stanchions
Worth looking for Ducati Pantah stanchions as well as they are the same.
Stein Dinse have these on offer at the moment at €157 a pair.
OK, import duty might need to be paid, but that is a good price.
Regards, George

Re: 1983 31/2 master cylinder
Hi Barney, An alternative worth considering is from the Gilera 4Runner scooter. It has a smaller bore than standard (13mm) and it has improved the front brake from being merely adequate to quite good on my Strada. I particularly wanted a Grimeca/ Italian one as the bolt/hose thread is 10x1mm as per ...

Re: I bought myself a Moto Morini 31/2
Ignition switch - for info, the early bikes (1973-76) standard electrical set up (certainly with 5 pole Ignition switches) was from anti clockwise, off, on, on+lights. As far as I have seen, when the change to 6 pole switches occurred, (around 1977 when disc brakes arrived as well), the layout became...

Re: Carburation issue?
Hi, Unlike the others above, I still run 115 main jets, as these are standard for a Sport. A good thing to do (IMO) is to fit #42 or #43 pilot jets. That and as already suggested, new needles and needle jets plus choke plunger rubbers. Pay close attention to carb balance too as this can also make a ...

Re: Chain adjustment on a k2
Is that 1" total? Doesn't sound enough to me, unless you are talking suspension compressed. Questions are: Correct length rear shocks? Standard gearing? Loaded or unloaded suspension? Too tight can give the gearbox output bearing a very hard time. Conversely, too loose can cause wear on the swi...

It might help if you posted the registration number?
Otherwise it's just a drum braked sport.

Hi,
If looking on eBay, make sure you have worldwide search on.
Also, can be worth searching eBay.it and eBay.at as sometimes there are sellers who don't look beyond their borders but are perfectly happy to ship overseas.

Re: Greasers with rearsets
Hi, Welcome on board. Rearsets and greasing is an issue. I resolved this on mine by drilling and tapping the swinging arm and adding a grease nipple to it - see attached image https://www.imagebam.com/view/ME11QF80 Simple to do, apart from having to remove the swinging arm to do the job properly. It...

Re: Cam opinions
Hi, Having one of each, the Strada feels much more 'torquey' than the Sport, upto around 5000rpm, but as you might expect, it has less urge than the Sport above that. This might suggest that you might want to stick to a Strada cam, but there was some discussion recently that there is another cam tha...

Re: 500 FRONT AXLE AND REAR DISC BRAKE
Hi,
Whilst my bikes are older with a different spacer, Engineering logic would suggest that the large diameter side would go against the fork slider and the smaller diameter would go against the bearing.
Hope this helps,
George
