Re: Engine stand
Cheapest option is a used car tyre. Will hold steady at just about any angle and also very good for transporting engines in the rear of a car.

Re: Dust Seal in Rear Caliper
The dust seal does need some form of positive location to both piston and calliper. It is a bit of a bodge, but if you are determined to use them and want to use silicone, then it would pay to use high temp sealant. Are the old seals ok or repairable?

Perhaps they should re-name this to either "Bandit" or "fury" They seem to be using BSA for inspiration on this one.

Re: Priceless Unobtainium Unearthed!
Unfortunately, as the parts become more scarce the price goes up. Won't be long now before anything pre Euro3 is banned from the roads. The powers that be, won't be worried about a few Insignificant classic bikes. In about ten or fifteen years, the marketplace is going to be flooded with the near w...

Re: paint colours
I know this is an old post, but it might be worth going to Refinish systems in Yeovil on your Strada. They will be able to match from the bike. And the aerosols they supply are far superior to the orange peel crap from Halfords.

Re: Front brake calliper pistons (stainless steel)
Sorry if this sounds a bit rude, but I hope Stevie Wonder turned those for nothing and gave you the material. I personally would not use them myself. Although in reality, they would probably work but there is the potential for them to weep. I would ask for you money back, or get them to remake them ...

Or alternatively heat the nuts avoiding the the stud with a lead burning torch using a small jet, get them glowing to cherry red and you will find each one will turn quite easily.

Does anyone have a spare clutch cover (that screws onto the engine casing) that they would be willing to sell?

Re: tank hook
I would have thought that providing there is no contact between the frame and tank it would probably be held in place by the seat. You may find in use that where the seat rubs against the back of the tank, the paint may wear off a little quicker. I would also make sure that whatever you use as a pad...

Worth stripping down, you may just find it needs a bit of a clean up internally.

Re: tank hook
I have a tank that resembles a colander, but the band retainer is ok. You are welcome to it for free. Trouble is I am down in Devon. I normally come up to Kirby Stephen quite a lot, but for obvious reasons, that isn't happening at the moment. If you can hang on for a bit, I should be able to get it ...

Re: Left Hand Cover.
If you know a friendly plumber or have access to a lead burning/welding kit. This seems to work very well, by applying high localised heat to the nuts to the point of getting them cherry red in colour. Every one on my bike came off without a problem and it had been standing in a leaking shed for yea...
