Another ex Telecom engineer here. I crimp and solder the connections as I was trained to do. Too much heat from the soldering iron is bad so a small soldering iron and fine solder with added flux is fine.

Re: Veglia speedo repair
Interesting to hear these problems with Speedycables. I also have a faulty electronic tacho and I first contacted Peter Bond as he has done some excellent work for me . Re: Labyrinth wanted.
I ended up using the one way valve for car or bike engines as recommended by Steve. It fits inside the breather pipe, it's cheap, you can't see it and it works. Thanks everybody for the advise.

Re: Another joke cable from Venhill
I spent a frustrating few hours trying to shorten a throttle cable, I assume the inner must be stainless steel as the flux and solder does not seem to work on this.

Re: Labyrinth wanted.
Thanks everybody. I read somewhere, possibly on here, that they cause the necessary back pressure so that oil reaches the cylinder heads.

Re: Another joke cable from Venhill
Same here ! I compared it to a cable I bought from them about 5 years ago and the inner is about 10mm longer.snatchpiece wrote:Strangely enough, I’ve recently had a Venhill clutch from Mdina and the inner was too long!!!
I had to make an extra ferrule to compensate.
