Re: Noise

Some roads in Germany (Eiffel) have already been closed
If you are controlled, checked by the police and you have a non-standard (eingetragen) exhaust, you can leave your bike and collect it later by trailer.
In Austria some roads are closed for specific types of motorcycles due to noise emmissions.

Re: Noise

what are "eejits" I plead guilty to riding a BSA twin with megatons fitted. ten miles from home my wife would start the tea-kettle. but that was 30 odd years ago. nowadays I stick to the factory supplied exhaust as: ( in no specific order) 1. I'm riding with earplugs. 2. the noise doesn't ...

Re: new toy

well, I'm not sure. however I've to look into it. at least the bike must comply with the noise-regulation at the time of first admission. but I do not know what the admitted noiselevel in the '80 is. and the valentini has a healthy roar. motorcycle generated noise has been getting more and more poli...

BumbleBee wrote: 26 Oct 2021 10:33 Just a thought. The model of electronic tacho on Morinis are very specific to Morinis because of the firing interval,
G&A
no, not really.
there one grey wire from a transducer to the tacho, so its one pulse every 720 degrees, 2 crankshaft rotations

Re: new toy

well, at the moment it is difficult to start on E5/E10 and won't idle. When warm it will idle at 1200 rpm, requiring choke and then suddenly die. cleaning carbs didn't improve anything at all. Out of curiosity bought a canister of Aspen-fuel and presto, 1100 rpm tick-over and no stalling. test-ride ...

Re: new toy

bought a container aspen 4-stroke fuel, bike starts much easyer and idles at 1100 rpm without chokes. short testride proved positive. so carburation etc is quite good for normal fuel. have to decide if I'm going to run it on this fuel or re-yet the engine for modern fuels. checked the timing belt, s...

Re: new toy

did some work on the MM500 today. it is difficult to start but I have to recommission the bike. so carburettors will be cleaned and ignition timed. When running at 2000 rpm the battery is charged so the regulator does work (apperently). the choke must be used to keep it running. when I turn the chok...

Re: new toy

Yes, rather noisy. The aim is to make it street-legal. So the tires will have to be replaced as these are very old. And the exhaust system will be replaced/modified. at the moment it is a Valentini two in one. Then have the bike checked by the RDW for dutch plates. The engine starts but not easily, ...
