Re: Help on an early Sport
So do you agree with the original posters comment (albeit in a different forum) that the Morini Riders Club Forum is "hopeless"? You see a big part of the problem for you guys is that the OP didn't actually refer to the MRCF specifically, but to a 'Morini forum', of which there is more th...

Re: Early sport
Never seen an engine look like that. Dobyou intend riding it? Most likely vapour blasted (aka hydro-blasting...uses glass beads in a high-pressure water stream, sometime with other chemicals such as inhibitors). Quite a common process these days for cleaning all sorts of metallic parts. In this cas...

....better empty those tanks, guyskeeping gas in the tank faded the paint

Certainly a nice looking bike and only 130 miles so seems a reasonable buy (??).

Re: Fuel tank cleaning
Any good tips for cleaning my Strada tank? Lots of tiny particles coming through. Tried and true methods are the way to go: 1. Alkaline clean - sodium hydroxide to remove internal scum, etc 2. Phosphoric acid based rust conversion solution. Of course, use appropriate protection for painted surfaces...

From the length of those drive belts you have one of those extremely rare OHC engines

Re: Date of manufacture
Would someone be able to give me a month & year of manufacture based on a frame & engine number? 1975 drum brake 3 1/2 Sport Fame 06129 Engine 06129 Trevor, since the bike has an engine number that matches the frame number then I assume it's a US import (??). If that's the case, then there ...

Re: Testing the electronic tacho.
I'd expect it should be possible to test using a signal generator with a 12V output. I plan to put a CRO across the tacho input to determine the parameters but won't be for awhile yet.

Re: Tachometer rev counter issue.
It's amazing what you can find on the internets......this is a link to a discussion on a Morini enthusiast site in Italy where the OP has built a complete replacement for the innards of a 1976 Sport tach using a 3D printer, a stepper motor for needle drive + associated electronics: http://www.morini...

Re: Tachometer rev counter issue.
NLM have a 'rebuild' service and use a guy who is an ex-RAF technician (well, so they claim, but there's no reason to suspect anything different).....sent you a PM about that. The mechanicals seem to be similar across Veglia electronic tachs of the period. Some early Moto Guzzi V7's used an electron...

Re: Marzocchi springs
I have some spare springs somewhere but they'll be too heavy as they are for Tonti Guzzi's. From memory, they are colour coded according to spring rates - small paint marks on the springs gave the rate...if you know the code. I have a manual somewhere, I'll see if I can dig it out. I got mine via th...

Under $10K Oz Peso's for all three  - wish they went for that over here  T3 makes a great side car tractor and looks to have been properly setup with Earles front-end. Not simple to change gearing, of course. Needs work but parts are readily available. As long as the drive train doesn't ...

Re: Odd headlight?
Thanks for those replies, I've subsequently noticed that he headlight lens has SAE moulded in which would imply American origin. The documents show the bike was imported but they don't say where from! Al Check for the frame number stamped into the crankcase between the front engine mounts. This see...
