Regulator meltdown

Post by Iv4n »

Hi anyone tell me why my regulator decided to melt? Just restoring a 501/2 had the ignition coil rewound by Rex's speed shop put 2 new transducers on (blue type) and within a minute of starting the bike the regulator started to smoke fron the top rear left side.. Is it just a faulty unit or is something wrong with connection to the battery (i didnt have time to check the input at the battery) .

Hi
From the post we can't tell what kind of charging system you have.

Is this a non Kokusan equipped 501 mk2 Camel XE
Can you share picture of regulator and connections.
ThanKs
Mark.

Please add a photo of the connections on the regulator including where the smoke appeared from. This photo might help folk to assess what happened, or at least how things are connected.
