Yesterday, Ducati 450 Scrambler project underway. Motor stripped down. All good, just need main bearings, associated bearings, gaskets rings etc. Not bad for 35 years unused.
Today, Morini Camels refurbished head replaced. Camel ready for next weekends Toy Run. My boy who's 7, will ride on the back. It will be his first big ride. Aprox 1500 bikes. I think he will love it !

Well young boy decided not to come on the back. Just as well as there was a bad crash not far ahead of me resultingin a death. Very sad.
On a happier note, the front head is performing great. No poping on decel and exhaust nut only needed a slight tweek twice.
Bad news is fixed rear shock leaking again. Sent to specialist for rebuild. This guy sounds good.
All the best!

Last 2 weekends i`ve been getting out on it. Running sweet. I met an interesting guy on a BM. Thought some of you may appreciate a pic of his bike.
Anyway, life's good here. No covid to speak of, good weather and lots of bush I can explore.
Cheers.

Ah, a proper 'Airhead'. I quite like the Oilheads, but they have become overcomplicated (and too heavy).

Ross, you are the tip of diamond of Morini bikes in Australia. Beautiful roads. Great bike. Pure envy.

It is so nice to be able to go for a ride in the bush, bike running sweet, no crowds and not have to fix anything when I got home.
Love it !

That's what I keep thinking! All that space!
Ross, do you have to stick to marked trails or old roads, or are you able to go riding on open land in 'the bush'? Is all that bush land owned by anyone or is it common land with any restrictions? Asking for a friend, obvs.

Steve,
Have a look at this. Its a map of just West Australia. http://www.maphill.com/australia/wester ... f-outside/
Inland from Perth there is a strip of forest (dark green) National park that stretches down south. There are single tracks, some we are not meant to ride on, vehicle 4x4 tracks and gravel roads. You could ride straight through the bush, but good chance of getting lost !
The light green area is farming country. Then as you head further inland the brown colour tell you its mostly dry, unforgiving, sparcley inhabited desert.
Some of the desert is remarkably, cattle country.
To give you an idea of size, I would take 2 days of driving a car (12 hour days) to get from Perth to Broome. Perth to Albany in the south about 5 hours.
It is a vast country that Ive been lucky enough to have seen a lot of it. I did camping 4x4 tours for 12 years all round Australia.
But sometimes I wish I was closer to the awesome roads and history of Europe.

The last comment about who owns it is a bit of a touchy one. I might leave that one.

Pic is of my Tuono 2 weeks ago in the south west. Amazing forest.

Thats my bed, or swag rolled up on the back of the bike.

Cheers.

Hello all,
Thought I would do a little update.
Went for an overnighter this weekend. Local Ducati club puts on a rally every second year. Round trip of about 500 klm. Headed up through the hills of Perth thru a historic town of York. It is sooooo old. About 150 years old ! Then through the wheat belt town of Meckering (I was there when the earth quake happend, aged 8) to the rally site on a guys farm. Lot of liquid refreshments before the night time antics (things getting blown up, massive camp fires etc) Morning time was for Gymkhana time. About 150 souls attended, 1 Morini, many Dukes and even 14 sidecars.
The bike ran like a dream. Got home and nothing needs done to it. Again.
Hope these pics load.
Cheers.
