501 engine bearings and seals

Post by morini_tom »

Has anyone got a list of all the bearing & seal codes for a 501 engine? (late type 501 although I suspect they're the same parts as early ones)

I am nearing the teardown and want to buy all of the new bearings & seals before I begin so I can dismantle & reassemble in one hit.

No idea why I've never made a list of them before, I've rebuilt more morini engines than I care to remember over the years!

Thanks,
Tom

Thank you Ian, most helpful.

Those numbers look pretty familiar now they're written down!

Interesting though that the primary side main is listed as a 30mm journal- mine is definitely 33mm. I know they increased it from the 500, I'd assumed it was bigger on all 501s but I guess it must only be the later kokusan 501s.

The main with the 33mm journal is the special, now obsolete 633250C angular contact bearing.

I have a couple of NOS angular contact bearings for the 30mm journal (bought in error thinking they were the 33mm journals) still in their Ducati packets with Morini part numbers. The bearings are QJ306MA/C3, which I think are still available from bearing factors at about £85. These bearings stand me in at about half that so if anybody needs one please PM me as Without grinding my crank (get out of jail card for the future) they're no use to me.

Hi Tom, checked the Camel 501 parts book again and the drive side main bearing is: Part code 24.01.11 Bearing 633250 (same as the 500) and the size is listed as 30x72x19 which must be an error.

I've just measured an original bearing I removed from a 500 5 speed years ago and it is 33x72x19 so it must be the same as the 501.

Sorry I made a mistake in typing the width size which should be 19 and not 90.

Hope this helps, Ian
