Camel 501 Bearings

Post by elektrobank »

Hi all!

i've noticed that the rear wheel bearings on my 86' Camel 501 are completely broken now i removed my rear wheel for a tyre replacement and i need to change that bearings but i never done something like that on bike... do you have any tips about? and... are that bearings easy to find?

Thanks in advance

Bearings should be no problem to find from a local bearing shop. When you remove them, there will be a code number stamped on the side. If you can't read it, take the bearing with you and they should be able to match it.

To remove them, pour boiling hot water on the hub around the bearing. Turn the wheel over and tap with a soft mallet. The bearing may fall out. If it doesn't you will need to find a suitable drift to tap the bearing out. Once you have one side out, repeat on the other side which will be much easier.
