Brake Master Cylinder Problem

Post by buzby »

I had my Kanguro MOT tested today and although it passed OK there was an advice note saying the brake master cylinder was flexing when the brake was applied hard. This cylinder has a rectangular cover with Grimeca on it and I bought it this year from NLM. The flexing is minute, maybe 1-2 mm at the end ,but definately happens.
So i wondered if anyone else has noticed this happening or had any problems with their master cylinder.

Sounds like a 'fake' advisory to me.

There's an engineering truism 'The whole world is made of rubber'. Everything flexes, it's just a case of how much.

A certain rate of advisories is apparently expected. MOT testing has changed and there is a bias towards passing a vehicle. More things are checked, but the allowances increased.

Thanks for that Paul. I guess another tester would have picked up some other minor detail.
