Rebuild

I've got a few questions about my old 500 Strada I'm rebuilding/fixing. The gearbox was giving me grief popping out of gear when hot. The dogs are definitely worn.
1) The manual definitely says replace gears in pairs. Some of the gears paired with worn gears look fine. Thoughts?
2) New big end bearings. None available except Fiat 600/600D/Multipla 55-60? These need to be milled down?
Thanks......Tom

FIAT shells do not have to be 'milled' down. They are slightly wider to your advantage, about 1/2mm depending make - Vandrvell or Glacier if possible the tang may need to be recut on the plain edge, the now unused tang canbe carefully planished back into position and if proud, very fine file to removed the excess until it beds into the housing.
