500 & 350 brake pads

Post by Seagreen »

Hi,
Does anyone know whether the brake pads fitted to 350 Sport and 500 Sport models are the same?
Thanks,
Charles

Possibly. However, they used different Grimeca calipers from around 80/81/82 onwards. Can you post a photo of your calipers?

Hi DD,
Thanks for your reply; please find attached 3 images of the front calipers - hope that these help but if insufficient clarity etc please let me know.
Ciao,
Charles

Those are the earlier type calipers as fitted to the 350s too. From 1976 till they went to the later type. FA76 is I think one manufacturers code for them. I can check tomorrow as I have just bought a set!

Yes, I forgot that! EBC code is FA076 and you should be able to cross-reference that to other makes.

On a similar point, when I stripped down the calipers on my 1978 500, I noticed a small spring clip which I assume was fitted to stop the pads from rattling. However, the replacement pads I've bought from Mdina do not include these clips. I haven't got around to reassembly yet, but are these spring clips necessary?
