Muffler putty

Post by rossguzzi »

Is there a type of muffler putty that could be used to help seal header pipe to head ? I'm using a proper gasket but I would like to aid sealing using some sort of putty.
Any suggestions ?

Don't do it! If you can't get a proper seal with collets and joint, you have a problem somewhere. It can take a bit of adjustment to get both ends of the pipe to fit their respective orifices, persevere a bit.

There are no collets. Just screw nut a up to a flange. Gasket between flange and head. I'm tempted to use 2 gaskets.

Yes why not use 2 if you have to, just don't start introducing gunk into the port/threads.
You could even use a compressible gasket and a copper ring, of which there are many of all diameters on Fleabay
