No Spark

Post by snatchpiece »

Fixed my indicators (slight corrosion on terminal in bulb holder), as I was running the thing in the garage to check these out it just stopped, I'm not getting a spark from either plug. I cant imagine that both transducers failed together so I suspect the fault is further back up the system, trouble is I'm not sure where to start. Has anyone else had a similar experience? All replies would be most gratefully recieved.

I had the same happen to me on my Kanguro - on the motorway doing 70 at the time!!! Having investigated found ignition coil open circuit. Thats a worst case scenario - the ignition kill switch works by dumping the ignition coil output to earth so I would check that the ignition coil is OK (should be anything from 200 ohms to 300 ohms across the coil) and that only one side is a dead short to earth. Another problem I have had on my Strada is a wire breaking on the stator. For more info on the ignition circuit check out the Dutch Morini Club Technical Section.

Hope it is nothing more than a spurious earth fault!!

John.
