first 500

Post by patf »

Hello everyone, I'm looking for some information on a bike I used to own. The registration was TOJ 886S (1977 if my memory is correct) and it was a grey 500. Actually I believe it was the very first 500 sold. The one in all the publicity blurb and the one dispalyed at various shows etc. Again I'm going from memory but I think the frame number was 030001 or something similar. Does it still exist? I bought the bike in Birmingham around 1980 and the fellow I bought it from gave me the above information. I used it for an extended trip around Europe lasting for 5 months in 1982 and sold it for a pitiful amount (no takers) about a year later. Unfortunately the new owner tarted it up with new red paint and gold wheels, decided he didn't like it and sold it on. it was up in Cumbria at the time. Does it still exist? Cheers, Pat Freel.
