I can't help with a spare Ross, and as you say they are hard to find. They bent easily and the lug on the swing arms were weak too, same problems went on to the first Kanguro as well.
Have you got one to copy? If so it would be easier to make a new one, especially as you're in Oz where that bike is rarer even than here in Europe. If you did make one up you could at least beef up the tube a little to help it survive. Some decent quality seamless tubing and perhaps double skinned for the first few inches would be a great improvement. The pivot lug is another story, I can't think of a way to improve that without it looking very non standard.
If you don't have a wrecked one to copy I could help with pics and dimensions perhaps?

I think you are on the money Steve. Just thought I would try my luck here first. Mine works but has been bent straight. Making a new one seems the go.
