Morini 250 2C tank FREE

Post by 72degrees »

Right, Dave has taken the dual seat.

Anyone interested in a 250 2C fuel tank circa 1982.

Cap missing and so very rusty inside.

Perhaps just possibly better than no tank at all.

FREE if you can collect.

Photos can be uploaded if curiosity piqued.

Now I must check on the cast spare wheel in the shed. If it is a front complete with speedo drive I will be keeping it!

Though I also have a pair (with race tyres) on the Forgotten Error which is sitting forlornly in the garage with its engine out.
I'm really wondering what to do with that hulk - apart from stripping off the NLM ignition module, and coils as spares.
The 2C frame is in much better condition then the road bike. Black, but I have a NOVA chit for it somewhere, so I perhaps could do a rebuild using that and notify change of frame without having an MSVA or falling foul of historic status major change rules - exactly the same frame type. Must look in to the legalities.

Unless someone wants a major project? 2C frame, forks and wheels, with not much else. I would expect a 'small consideration' for that.

OK. Speak now or forever hold your peace. Tip trip imminent. Also a 2C rear mudguard being lobbed and some late 2C side panels and the bits between them and the tail light 'fairing' (already sold the light and fairing years ago).

2C tool 'can' (x2 if the other one comes to light).

Replied. That's an odd looking 250. 1977 but registered in 1982? Were they making 250s in 1977? My 1979/80 UK regiterd one is the original Harglo road test machine.

250's always had black coated side and rocker covers I thought. Perhaps it has all corroded off. What on earth is the wheel from?
Not taxed since 1985 ?

A labour of love for someone, to say the least.

The seller had also listed a 350 moto morini that had wire wheels and probably was from 1977. My guess is they copy+pasted the title of the item and then didn't revise the date in the title. For those who aren't already aware, here's the bike I mentioned in my PM https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/134020694576

The received opinion is the wheel is from a BMW motorbike.

I agree this bike project would be a major undertaking, I'm intrigued what the reserve price is.

It's one we have in the records, new member from November 1982. UK bike.

Later models, with the new styling, had polished rocker boxes from the factory
but the paint was so thin on earlier ones it had probably fallen off and been polished
What ever happened to the rear exhaust port? Silencers not Morini?
A lot of distress for 7000 miles, one careful owner

That certainly is a snowflake wheel from a Beemer. I took 2 away to the scrap yard a year or so ago, could not give them away! They are a lot of money to buy second hand.

Well spotted, the poor bike appears to have been abused actively and passively.

Apparently more than the reasonable max bid as didn't sell.

It's now been relisted without a reserve: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/134031035511
The first bid has been made at £100.
