Priceless Unobtainium Unearthed!

Post by Steve Brown »

Brace yourselves fellow believers-I have just found hidden away in my time capsule what is surely the last remaining used/preloved Electric Fuel Tap anywhere!
If you need one to finish your 100% perfect, as original but better than it left the factory bike, then it's now time to make me an offer for this absolute gem of a find. You'll never see another one for sale* This remarkable artefact is a typical example of the breed. It goes 'click' when 12 volts are applied to the terminal and the solenoid moves and returns again when de-energised. With the solenoid energised I was able to blow through the fuel passage with some effort and it seals against my 65 year old lungs when switched off. The rubber diaphragm doesn't appear cracked or perished but may well be a little past it's best now that it is as old as some of you.
If you want this badly enough I have put a 'Buy it Now!' price of £10,000 on this little piece of loveliness. Alternatively if you are a resident of the real world you can make me an offer by PM. I will protect your identity of course. You know how rare and desirable this is!

*At least until another one is found and offered for sale-terms and conditions apply etc.

Wow! I have one too! I will under-cut you and sell it for £9500... I got it to work, it was "lazy" as it had some fuel gum in it...

 Oh no! Not a race to the bottom? Just you wait till the new diaphragms are available-the working taps will be double the price!

Motroradteile Hannover.. vreak every bike into the tiniest bit and for each piece have outragious prices.
I once added up the loose bits from a single bike they just took apart... came to something like 10.000 euro's for a rusted a 3 1/2
The strategy is that if they sell 20% of the parts value they brake even and can bin the remaining stuff if it sits on the shelf too long

Unfortunately, as the parts become more scarce the price goes up.

Won't be long now before anything pre Euro3 is banned from the roads.

The powers that be, won't be worried about a few Insignificant classic bikes. In about ten or fifteen years, the marketplace is going to be flooded with the near worthless things. There is very little young blood coming into the hobby and hardly anyone will be riding them.

Remind me again..Euro....hmmm seem to recall something in the distant past, crates of Kanterbrau beer and crawling off the ferry at Roscoff to fill up with cheap diesel at St Pol.Whatever happened to all the fun in the world?
Keep digging those rare earths chaps.

Here's a thing chaps, what happens if you need one, but there aren't any? What alternatives are there?
