Well I have my stator back from Rex's speed shop and I am fuming. I rang and spoke to the shop checking they could test and repair the stator before posting it I was assured it was no problem.

I have had no communication from them I just assumed they were getting on with the testing until this morning I got a knock on the door from the postie.

Whoo a parcel from Rex's I excitedly opened it to find a brief letter saying they wouldn't be doing the work.

No attempt to let me know I am not happy why say you can do it then just send it back. Now I need to start the search for someone else to do the job.

Yes I did try the phone and they didn't answer it. Perhaps I should send my favourite pigeon Speckled Jim with a message.

I got a response from West country windings I think the last time I tried to contact them I was having phone problems. Fingers crossed I will be back on the road just in time for a glorious autumn riding season of sunny days and ice free nights.

Good to know, they were good, so hoping they have maintained their standards.

Rex's speed shop did a good job for me and others, so I wonder what's happened, often its all down to only having one person who actually knows what they are doing and if they leave or retire that's game over...

Apparently the winding person has left due to illness possibly they were sick of working. I just wish they had let me know before sending my stator back honest communication makes for happy customers.

Perhaps they were very ill, perhaps the proprietor, perhaps your stator was at the lower end of a list of things that needed doing?

Yes they do. Make sure you have a steel bolt or similar "keeper" across from the centre to the outer rim of the stator

Do you mean have a bar/bolt across the flywheel side to side or just from the centre point to one side.

I wasn't so much complaining about my stator not being fixed shit happens in life and motorbikes and I don't get to bothered by things going wrong.

My gripe is the complete lack of communication if they had messaged or called to tell me there was a problem I would have said no worries send it back and I will try somewhere else. Just to send it back with a brief note is poor business.

All back together and firing on both cylinders. West country windings did a cracking job £95 delivered.

When I tested resistance it was 129ohms it's now 470ohms well over the 300ohms specification.

West Country windings have generally done excellent work , but I did send them Jonny Pollard's of this parish when I was doing his engine, and they basically said its too cooked to repair, which surprised me, as youd think they could just rewind the cooked coils
