350 Sport K1 (triple disc, duck tail) has the seat retained by a lock that swivels from the top of the tail unit into a groove cut in the seat base, with the seat pushed hooked into a tongue at the front, like the attached picture.

I assume from your description that yours is however like the other K models (K and Stradas) had an arrangement more like the 500 with a hinged seat and a lock on the side of the frame. My K1 has the plate for the lock and the rollovers of the seat hinge so I don't expect they bothered making the frames different for either variety. You can see in the 2nd picture the empty hole on the far side of the frame just behind where the grab handle is where the lock would be, were it not a K1. And in the 3rd picture of the blue K strada you can make out the lock in the place and see the different hinged seat and tail unit style.

I would imagine (but not sure as I don't own this style of lock or a late 350 parts book) that the lock on the non-K1 K 350s and stradas is like the 500, in which case the final attachment is a pic of the 500 parts book showing the lock.

Hope that helps more than confuses :)

Tom

Thanks for swift response Tom, I didn't realize it had a key lock arrangement a lot to it really ,which on my bike is missing , just a hole in the frame were it should go and no latch mechanism so back to the cable tie , great pictures by the way it clears the mystery of what is missing on mine and how it works thanks Muller.

If you’re not worried about the lock bit and just want the latch mechanism then this is probably what you need (I don’t know the seller, just found it on eBay)

Or hopefully Tom Ros or some other forum helpful will come along shortly with one for you:

My lock went for a holiday on the M5. I got a replacement from our local lock shop. This was ages ago.
The swivelling metal plate remained in the tail however. That would be easy to fabricate. I loctited the retaining ring nut in this time.

Had a look at the eBay one, similar to a Honda one that is somewhere in the shed maybe fabricate to fit , if I can find it, take on board what your saying no key lock , so fit catch and poke your finger in the hole ! To open the catch I mean, or fit disc with a bolt through it to release to open like the key arrangement thanks Tom and John for info , can feel a bit of a project looming.

Mine also vibrated off years ago.
Once you know what’s supposed to be there, and if you don’t mind it not locking, it’s fairly easy to fabricate a decent looking solution with nuts, bolts, a rubber washer, a bit of 2mm steel bent to the required shape and one or two of those odd bits and pieces in the shed that you knew would come in handy one day :D
