If the engine was marked before it went in the frame.

I can quite see the factory changing the odd home market bike to UK spec to make up an order and stamping the number with the engine installed.

An old thread but, Im in the process of buying an ex Italian sold into UK bike. Frame A/1 05163
No engine number I believe. S stamped on the front case. So I believe it`s a true Italian first registered bike.
Will be my 3rd 3 1/2 Sport owned. I should learn and keep this one :D
