Honda NSR125 switch unit wiring
Hi, read the article in the latest Tutto Gas about using the Honda unit as a replacement for the original. Please could the author (George) post the detail of the wiring colour connections made into the Morini loom. Thanks, Nick

Re: Honda NSR125 switch unit wiring
Hi Nick, and all who are contemplating such a change.
As an addition to the ATG article, the only thing I have found/should have added is that I needed to glue a thin bit of rubber (I used a piece of old cycle inner tube) into the bottom half of the switch to stop it rotating.
For the colours below, the black wire (1) has a bullet on the end, the rest are in a multipin connector. There are also 2 wires that have 2 spade terminals at the switch end and bullets at the connector end. These are for a clutch inhibitor switch on the Honda, not part of or used in/by this switch. They were cut off and removed from the switch cabling.
Wiring for Honda NSR125 switchgear (correct for NSR125R 1988-93) Sorry they aren't neatly aligned in columns but this forum layout doesn't like tabs or multiple spacebar entries.
_Function Honda Colour Bike Colour
1 Switch power Black Grey (is supply to headlamp switch)
2 Pilot Brown Yellow
3 Indicator feed Grey Orange
4 Horn Lt Green Red
5 Left Indicator Orange Black/Green
6 Right indicator Lt Blue Black/White
7 Main beam Blue White
8 Dip beam White Black
No longer used on Morini loom: Brown (unfused switched 12v) –old parking lamp supply
Mauve (fused switched 12v) – old horn and indicator power?
Whilst the descriptions for the ‘not used’ wires MAY be wrong, i.e. as to what they do, I do know that everything works exactly as it should do, with no fuses blowing, can’t have headlight on with ignition off or in ‘park’ setting etc. The Black wire (1) into the switch divides and feeds all the circuits that the not used wires used to do.
For each switch, the multipin connector was cut off and new ones fitted to match my loom. The connectors I used were obtained for me by an auto electrician friend. If you have a look at http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onli ... ectors.php this company sells similar connectors individually. Not the cheapest place to get general stuff from, but for things like connectors they are reasonable and also very quick to send out. Just watch out as the prices are EX VAT.
Hope that this helps,
George.

Thanks George - gratefully appreciated. I have an NSR switch now (Ebay has a few as you say in your article). Now to get it fitted!
