Stator rewind help needed!

Post by Canuck750 »

This June I contacted Westcounty windings to have a Morini 3-1/2 stair rewound, they emailed back that they are no longer rewinding stators.
Next I contacted Rex’s Speed Shop, they told me they could do the job and I mailed two stators to them (I am in Canada).

I checked in last week and they emailed that unfortunately they no longer can rewind stators, the person doing it is no longer with them, and they mailed back my parts.

So I am stuck!

Can anyone rewind a Moto Morini 3-1/2 Stator (1975 Strada) and/or a 1979 500W Stator?

Thanks

If it’s the ignition coil that needs rewinding, you can do it yourself fairly easily. Basically using some fine copper wire and patience. Have a look on the Dutch Morini Site for full details.

Jim,

Somebody on here had a winding done in July.

There may have been a misunderstanding as they told me a few years ago they would do the ignition winding but not the alternator windings.

I have heard Robson & Francis in London recommended for dynamo rewinds and also these guys http://sahibsautoelectric.co.uk/ also in London who fixed a laverda alternator and who also do rewinds.

May be able to help.

I had my stator rewound by Small Coil Rewinds many years ago. The guy who did mine has retired, but these fellas have taken over:

I had my stator rewound by West Country Windings earlier this year.

As stated in the post above, they will rewind the ignition, but not the alternator.
