Ignition switch

Post by Hugo »

Whilst changing the binnacle on the 250c I managed to detach the wires from the ignition switch, it's a 6 pole switch but 4 wires, brown, blue, green and red which is still attached to terminal 6, can someone guide me please

Hello,
Hugo

The original 2C switch only had four terminals, so most likely its a replacement. If its a CEV its likely from a later kanguro or Camel which share the same binnacle or a similar one with extra idiot lights. It could also be a generic switch from a moped e.g. a Honda PX50 /melody
You will need to remove the switch and check the internal connections in each switch position, using a meter.

What you need to provide is:

OFF - key removable green wire connects to blue wire, red wire NOT connected to brown wire
ON - Key not removable green wire disconnected from blue wire, red wire connected to brown wire

On an adapted 6 pole
Normally 1 and 2 are green/blue (you can swap 1 and 2)
5 and 6 are red/brown (you can swap 5 and 6)

On a standard wired 250 2C no other connections are made or needed (no park light position)

You may find the switch has three positions.
This can also be adapted to work.
